Mercedes-Maybach Introduces Its First Plug-In Hybrid Model, the S 580 e

Stuttgart – The Mercedes-Maybach brand, which has been known for its luxurious and prestigious vehicles since 1921, has continued to reinvent itself to exceed the highest expectations of the extraordinary. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, launched in 2021, has enjoyed growing demand in the market. Now, the brand has introduced its first plug-in hybrid model, the Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e, which combines luxury with emission-free local driving in electric mode.

According to Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, the S 580 e represents a significant step in the transformation of the brand into an electric future. The saloon offers a more impressive experience of silence with its exceptionally quiet interior becoming even quieter in electric mode. The electric-specific features are discreetly integrated with typical Maybach expertise, including a concealed charging socket on the left side of the vehicle, blue color accents in the headlights, and the battery charging state in the instrument panel.

The hybrid drive of the S 580 e is based on a highly efficient inline six-cylinder engine from the current Mercedes-Benz petrol engine generation, which combines powerful performance with low fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. The combined system output of 375 kW/510 hp and maximum torque of 750 Nm ensures superior driving performance, while the electric motor’s maximum torque of 440 Nm is available immediately from the first engine revolution, resulting in rapid acceleration and dynamic handling. The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.

The vehicle comes standard with an 11 kW charger for three-phase charging from the AC mains, and a 60 kW DC charger for fast charging with direct current is available as an option. Even when the battery is almost completely empty, a full charge can be achieved in around 30 minutes using the latter. With the S 580 e, the brand showcases its commitment to sustainable luxury and electric mobility.
