A group of Rivian engineers recently ventured into the American Southwest to put R1T towing capacity, battery cooling and cabin comfort to the test. The result? Adventure on.
The R1T has been designed for a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds and the team made multiple runs on the Davis Dam Grade over two days while towing a 30-foot trailer loaded to this weight. And we did it under a blistering desert sun with temperatures topping out at around 118 degrees Fahrenheit.
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. We believe there is a more responsible way to explore the world and are determined to make the transition to sustainable transportation an exciting one. We designed our emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles to challenge what’s possible. We hope they inspire you to do the same.
Rivian has developed and vertically integrated a connected electric platform that can be flexibly applied to a range of applications including the company’s adventure products as well as B2B products such as the Amazon last mile delivery vans. The company’s launch products, the R1T and R1S, deliver up to 400+ miles of range and provide an unmatched combination of performance, off-road capability and utility. These vehicles use the company’s flexible skateboard platform and will be produced at Rivian’s manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill., with customer deliveries expected to begin in 2021.
