Audis latest advancements in hybrid technology are showcased in the newly updated Audi Q7 TFSI e quattro and Q8 TFSI e quattro models. These vehicles blend a robust 3.0 V6 Otto engine with an efficient electric motor and a newly enhanced battery, offering a dynamic and eco-friendly driving experience. With aesthetic updates and technical upgrades, these models emphasize both performance and sustainability. Prices commence at 85,500 euros for the Q7 and 92,900 euros for the Q8.

Key Highlights:

  • Enhanced Battery Power: Both models feature a new, powerful lithium battery, providing an all-electric range of up to 90 km in urban settings.
  • Dynamic Driving Features: Available all-wheel steering and electromechanical active roll stabilization enhance the driving dynamics and safety.
  • Innovative Lighting Options: High-intensity LED headlights come standard, with options for Matrix LED and HD Matrix LED headlights, including unique digital light signatures.
  • Extensive Equipment Upgrades: The range includes new wheel designs, digital OLED rear lights, and expanded driver assistance systems.

At the core of the updated plug-in hybrids lies a three-liter six-cylinder Otto engine paired with a compact electric motor, producing a combined output of up to 290 kW (394 PS) and a torque of 600 Nm. The new battery design under the trunk floor achieves a maximum capacity of 25.9 kWh, boosting electric range and efficiency. Notably, the all-electric range reaches up to 90 kilometers under the WLTP EAER City standard, with a combined electric range of up to 85 km.

Performance metrics are impressive, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Higher models like the 60 TFSI e quattro benefit from a redesigned electric motor that delivers up to 360 kW (490 PS) and 700 Nm of torque, enabling a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds. The battery supports fast charging, reaching a full charge in approximately three hours and 45 minutes, with access to Audi’s extensive charging network across Europe.

Operating Modes and Efficiency: The vehicles start in either fully electric EV mode or hybrid mode, with settings retained until changed manually. Hybrid mode features auto and hold settings to optimize battery use and energy recuperation. The predictive operating strategy ensures maximum efficiency by using electric power as far as possible before switching to the TFSI engine. The system also incorporates a predictive efficiency assist (PEA) that utilizes navigation data and the driving environment to enhance fuel efficiency.

The new Audi models are equipped with advanced safety and comfort features like all-wheel steering for enhanced maneuverability and electromechanical active roll stabilization for improved handling dynamics. The optional adaptive cruise assist supports efficient driving by advising on deceleration and acceleration based on traffic conditions.

Bottom Line: The refreshed Audi Q7 TFSI e quattro and Q8 TFSI e quattro not only offer increased power and range but also introduce sophisticated features that enhance both the driving experience and environmental efficiency. These models are set to hit the market by the end of April 2024, with a rich set of features and customization options to cater to diverse customer preferences.
