What’s Happening
ElDorado National (California), or ENC, a subsidiary of REV Group, Inc., has confirmed the acquisition of an order for 19 of their advanced Axess EVO-FC hydrogen fuel cell buses. The order comes from Foothill Transit, a public transit provider that is significant in California.
Why It Matters
Foothill Transit, with an operating fleet of 359 buses, serves Southern California’s San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys, including Pasadena and downtown Los Angeles. This new order not only supports the transit provider’s existing zero-emission models but also reflects Foothill’s commitment to achieving a 100% zero-emissions bus fleet. The adoption of such green technologies in public transport is vital for sustainable urban living and reducing carbon emissions.
Key Points
The Axess EVO-FC buses are industry leaders, boasting the highest capacity fuel cell and BAE Systems® Gen3 electric propulsion system. They offer an impressive range of up to 400 miles, can refuel between 12-20 minutes, and their only emission is water, making them an eco-friendly choice for public transportation.
In 2018, ENC became the pioneer bus manufacturer to pass the 12-year/500,000 miles FTA Altoona test for a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric powered bus, cementing its role as a leader in low or no emission technology. “The Axess EVO-FC is the perfect addition to Foothill Transit’s zero-emissions fleet,” stated Mike Ammann, Vice President of Sales, ENC. “ENC continues to lead the industry in next-generation alternative fuel buses that help transit authorities operate sustainably.”
Bottom Line
ENC is currently accepting orders for the Axess EVO-FC and its entire line of zero emissions buses, suggesting continued growth in sustainable public transport. This move indicates a growing trend in transit authorities across the country choosing to operate in a more sustainable and eco-friendly manner.
