Expansion of Charging Capabilities
The partnership between EVgo and GM aims to create high-powered, customer-centric charging hubs across key states such as Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Texas. These flagship locations will cater to the growing number of EV drivers, offering multiple charging stalls and proximity to convenient amenities.
Security and comfort are prioritized, with stations featuring lighting, canopies, and pull-through access to ensure a seamless experience. The prefabrication approach will speed up construction timelines and enable future expansions with ease.
Industry Leadership and Collaboration
Dennis Kish, President at EVgo, emphasized the future of EV charging, stating: “The future of EV charging is larger stall count locations, high-power charging, and designing around features that customers love.” This next phase of EVgo and GM’s collaboration will lead the way in customer satisfaction and convenience for current and future EV drivers.
In addition, Wade Sheffer, VP of GM Energy, commented on the significance of this effort: “Ensuring that our customers have seamless access to convenient and reliable charging is imperative, and this effort will take it to the next level.”
Ongoing Developments
Beyond the flagship project, EVgo and GM are continuing their work on expanding the overall metropolitan charging infrastructure. Together, they aim to install 2,850 DC fast charging stalls in total. The companies marked a milestone with the opening of their 1,000th fast charging stall in August 2023, and they plan to reach 2,000 stalls by the end of 2024.
