Mobis, a leader in the electric vehicle supply sector, has begun construction on a new battery system plant in Navarre, Spain. This facility is marked as the first in Western Europe dedicated to electrification, specifically tailored to meet the demands of Volkswagen. The strategic location aims to leverage Europe’s robust automotive market, signaling a significant step for Mobis in its global expansion efforts.

The inauguration event on the 23rd drew attention with prominent figures such as María Chivite, Governor of Navarre, and Sebastian Marco, Mayor of Noain Municipality. Approximately 100 stakeholders, including major executives from Volkswagen, were present, emphasizing the plant’s crucial role in Mobis’s push towards electrification.

Jung In-bo, head of the Mobis electrification plant in Spain, stated, “We are committed to being Volkswagen’s long-term partner through stable auto component supplies, and we will strive to diversify our supply base in Europe, including supplying upcoming models for our client.”

The Spanish factory, spanning about 150,000 square meters, is positioned strategically within Europe’s automotive landscape, which is the second-largest automotive manufacturing base after Germany. The proximity to major automakers ensures efficient logistics and supply chain management.

Mobis’s investment in the facility includes advanced technologies for electrification, aiming to set a benchmark in efficiency and innovation without relying on overly sensational claims. This investment not only underscores Mobis’s commitment to electrification but also boosts its position in the global market by supporting upcoming Volkswagen electric vehicle platforms.
