Audi unveils new activesphere concept vehicle: a versatile crossover with off-road capabilities and cutting-edge technology

Ingolstadt – The Audi activesphere concept car is a revolutionary vehicle that combines the best of multiple worlds, making it a true all-rounder. With its elegant design, impressive ground clearance and large 22-inch wheels, it is a luxury-class sports car that can also handle off-road terrain with ease. The Sportback rear of the activesphere can transform into an open cargo bed at the touch of a button, making it perfect for carrying recreational equipment such as e-bikes or water and winter sports gear.

The activesphere is powered by an electric drive and quick-charging technology from Audi’s PPE modular system, which means it has no local emissions and can travel over 600 km on a single charge. The vehicle also features extremely fast charging times, thanks to 800-volt technology. This makes it a sustainable, dynamic and long-distance capable electric vehicle.

One of the most significant innovations in the activesphere is its use of augmented reality for mobility. Audi dimensions creates the perfect synthesis between the surroundings and digital reality, providing a new level of freedom for drivers and passengers. The car’s innovative operating concept, Audi dimensions, combines the physical and virtual worlds by displaying digital content in the occupants’ fields of vision in real time. High-tech headsets provide a view of the real environment and the route, while simultaneously displaying 3D content and interactive elements that are individually configurable for drivers and passengers.

The activesphere’s autonomous chauffeuring capability on suitable terrain means that the driver can have a more relaxed driving experience, while the car’s new display and operating technology can be used in a variety of ways. The high-tech headsets provide the ability for the driver and passengers to interact with the car’s control panels and other virtual displays in a minimalist design that remains hidden to the unaided eye. Mixed reality optics gives users the ability to interact precisely with these real, yet invisible, touch-sensitive zones, as the headsets display and carry out functions by reacting in real time when users touch them.

Audi unveils new activesphere concept vehicle: a versatile crossover with off-road capabilities and cutting-edge technology

The Audi activesphere concept was designed and developed at the Audi Design Studio in Malibu, California, where Studio Manager Gael Buzyn and his team are the creative minds behind the project. Buzyn describes the idea behind the activesphere as “unique”, and “a new type of crossover that cleverly combines the elegance of an Audi Sportback, the practicality of a SUV and true off-road capabilities.”

The Audi activesphere concept is a perfect all-rounder that is ideally suited for the high demands of a future-oriented generation of Audi customers. It is a vehicle that delivers the brand’s typical aesthetics and dynamism in the highest degree, combined with future-oriented technology. The activesphere is a fascinating vision of crossing the boundaries between different dimensions, making it a car that is not only versatile, but also sustainable and technologically advanced.
