  • It was awarded in the $30,000 to $35,000 price category.

U.S. News & World Report’s “Best New Car for Teens” award primarily emphasizes safety. To earn this distinction, a vehicle must offer the best combination of predicted reliability ratings, crash test scores, available advanced driver-assistance features, and top critics’ recommendations within its price category. The 11th-generation Civic is recognized as a safety leader in the compact class, largely due to the advanced active and passive safety technology that comes standard on every model.

This commitment to safety is further evidenced by the Civic’s impressive IIHS ratings. The 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback has earned a 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating, while the refreshed 2025 Honda Civic Sedan secured the IIHS 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) rating. These ratings include the Civic hybrid models, which are positioned at the top of the 11th-generation Civic lineup and account for nearly 35% of the model’s sales.

All 2025 Civic models are equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. For the 2025 model year, this suite includes enhanced safety performance, with increased system visibility for motorcycles and bicycles for the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection. Drivers will also experience smoother, more natural-feeling operation of both Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).

Adding to its appeal for young drivers, the 2025 Civic Hybrid with the 9-inch touchscreen is compatible with the Honda Driver Coaching app. This application is designed to assist new drivers, particularly teens, in improving their driving skills and promoting safe practices. By connecting to the vehicle via Apple CarPlay, the app provides real-time analysis of driving inputs such as acceleration, braking, and steering, offering a driving score and personalized coaching tips after each session. The 11th-generation Civic remains a popular choice for Gen Z, first-time buyers, and multicultural customers, and the Honda Civic has been America’s best-selling compact car since 1973.

Honda’s “Safety for Everyone” approach is integral to the Civic’s design. All 2025 Civic models benefit from Honda’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, designed to protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions. The 11th-generation Civic introduced an enhanced ACE™ structure for improved crash compatibility with smaller vehicles and better occupant protection in oblique frontal collisions. This generation also marked the debut of a driver’s airbag specifically designed to reduce head rotation in a collision, alongside an award-winning front passenger airbag with a three-chamber design for better protection in angled frontal impacts.

Reinforcing its safety credentials, every Honda model fully evaluated in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) 2024 and 2025 model year NCAP testing, including the 2025 Civic hybrid, has received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score.
