Electrify America Ensuring the Electric Future with Expansion and STEM Investments

With electric vehicles and the stations that charge them on the rise, Electrify America is ensuring its chargers are not just for the vehicles of today – but for the vehicles of tomorrow, too.

Electrify America executives Rob Barrosa, senior director of sales, business development & marketing, Phillip Retsch, manager of charging technology, and Matt Raba, software development leader, explore this sentiment and the company’s mission to propel widespread electric vehicle adoption in a new video.

Educating the Youngest Generation on EVs

In this engaging video, Barrosa, Retsch and Raba discuss preparing the youngest generation for the future through investments in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) academic programs that teach electric vehicle technology and benefits:

“We invest quite a bit in different STEM programs so that we can start teaching kids about the electric car technology and how they work, so that at a young age they understand,” Barrosa says. Retsch adds, “My kids are used to riding in electric vehicles essentially since they were born. For them it will be absolutely natural to drive electric vehicles.”

Electrify America’s Education and STEM Investments:

  • Ecology Action – Educating students and training teachers through a tailored curriculum aimed at furthering their mission to create a thriving environment and low carbon economy.
  • Valley Clean Air – Developing a ZEV maintenance community college curriculum to provide hands-on experience in this growing field, along with assistance along with community partnerships to support the low-income and disadvantaged communities.
  • Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator – Implementing a suite of educational and employment-focused actions among underrepresented groups, including creation of an e-mobility software, tech training and green workforce development, to help build an inclusive green economy.
  • National Energy Foundation – Developing and implementing national programs to educate K-12 and college students and engage teachers on the importance and benefits of electric vehicles and the future of electric transportation through a rigorous STEM-based curriculum.

Expanding the Electrify America Network by 2026

“One of the things we’re doing to encourage automakers to speed the transition to electric vehicles is building out this network of ultra-fast charging stations across the country,” Barrosa says. “The Boost Plan is an exciting plan we announced last year to really double down on our investment, so people have the confidence they need to get into an electric vehicle.”

Electrify America also is doubling down on efforts to expand its ultra-fast network through its “Boost Plan”, with plans to have 1,800 charging stations and 10,000 chargers in the U.S. and Canada by 2026.

Putting the Consumer First

In the video. Barossa emphasizes the company’s mission and importance of putting the consumer first. “Electrify America was created to propel the adoption of electric vehicles and that is our core mission, and we have really focused on the main pain point – which is having the right kind of charging infrastructure out in the public that everyone can take advantage,” he says. “The consumers, they’re at the center of everything we do because they are going to propel the transformation to electric vehicles.”
