Greenlane unveils a pioneering corridor of commercial electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, stretching 280 miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, marking a significant advancement in the national freight corridor’s EV infrastructure. This initiative, a collaboration among Daimler Truck North America, NextEra Energy Resources, and BlackRock’s Climate Infrastructure fund, aims to bolster carbon-neutral freight transportation across the Interstate 15 route. With the initial phase introducing over 100 chargers across strategic locations in Colton, Barstow, and Baker, California, and future expansions planned for Southern Nevada and San Pedro, California, Greenlane is setting a new standard for EV charging solutions.
Key Highlights:
- Strategic Locations: Charging stations situated in Colton, Barstow, and Baker, California.
- Extensive Charging Options: Over 100 chargers, including 400 kW DC Fast Chargers for medium and heavy-duty ZEVs.
- Future Expansion: Plans to extend the network into Southern Nevada and San Pedro, California.
- Innovative Design: Modern amenities to improve driver comfort and site resilience for high uptime.
Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane, emphasized the corridor’s role in accelerating the shift towards zero emissions for commercial vehicles. “The launch of this corridor not only marks a critical step in addressing the urgent need for publicly available, nationwide electric charging for commercial vehicles but will also serve as a model for the EV charging hubs of the future,” he stated.
The Colton site, flagged for groundbreaking in spring, is expected to feature a comprehensive suite of charging solutions to cater to a broad spectrum of EVs, from heavy-duty trucks to light-duty passenger cars. Additionally, Greenlane plans to include hydrogen refueling stations in its future developments, underscoring its commitment to a zero-emission transportation ecosystem.
Each Greenlane location is designed to offer an enhanced rest stop experience, with wide pull-through lanes, modern facilities, and a range of amenities, ensuring drivers can recharge both their vehicles and themselves with ease. This project not only represents a leap forward in EV infrastructure but also reinforces the broader move towards sustainable, efficient freight transportation in the United States.
