Hyundai’s IONIQ 9 symbolizes a new chapter for the brand as it enters the large SUV market with an all-electric offering. Building on the successes of IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, this model continues the evolution of Hyundai’s all-electric series, prioritizing spaciousness and a comfortable cabin. Hyundai’s acclaimed Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) allows for an expansive interior layout, ensuring ample space for passengers, including those in the third row.
The design of IONIQ 9 is branded as ‘Aerosthetic,’ merging aerodynamic efficiency with aesthetic appeal. Inspired by the sleek exteriors and the comfortable interiors of boats, IONIQ 9 features a single-curved roofline and an elongated wheelbase that enhances the spacious feel of the cabin. The character lines on the side of the vehicle reflect the traditional Korean clothing, Hanbok, adding a cultural touch to the vehicle’s modern exterior.
Teaser sketches showcase intricate details such as Parametric Pixels on the front lamps, a signature lighting design for the IONIQ models. The multi-spoke wheel design complements the dynamic and elegant nature of the SUV, aligning with the overall vision of Hyundai’s electric lineup.
Hyundai will be releasing additional teaser content for IONIQ 9 starting October 30 via its social media channels, culminating in a world premiere in November. The unveiling of the IONIQ 9 follows Hyundai Motor’s recent milestone of producing its 100 millionth vehicle earlier this year. Notably, the 100-million-and-first vehicle was an electric model, underscoring the brand’s ongoing transformation towards a future defined by electrification.
Hyundai Motor remains committed to its electrification goals, aiming to achieve sales of 2 million EVs by 2030. The IONIQ 9 is positioned to play a key role in this journey, showcasing how electric vehicles can deliver both cutting-edge technology and comfort in a spacious SUV format.
