Porsche‘s latest iteration of the iconic 911 sports car, now enhanced with a hybrid powertrain, has completed its development phase. Following rigorous global testing, which included over 3 million miles on diverse terrains such as racetracks, country roads, and city streets, this performance hybrid model is set to redefine dynamic driving. The 911 variant promises enhanced performance and efficiency, preparing it for series production after a digital world premiere scheduled for May 28 at 9 a.m. EST.

Extensive Global Testing Under Demanding Conditions
The development of the new 911 has been exhaustive, with the car undergoing tests in extreme climates and challenging environments worldwide. “For the first time in our icon’s 61-year history, we are installing a hybrid drive system in a roadgoing 911. This innovative performance hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic,” stated Frank Moser, Vice President Model Line 911 and 718. He elaborated on the testing process: “We left nothing to chance during development and tested the new 911 under all sorts of conditions all over the world from the freezing cold to scorching heat, as was the case during the final stages of testing in Dubai.”
Improved Lap Times at the Nürburgring
The Nürburgring Nordschleife has played a crucial role in the evolution of the 911. In its recent tests, Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister piloted the hybrid 911 to clock a time of 7:16.934 minutes on the track—8.7 seconds faster than the earlier model. “We have more grip, significantly more power, and the spontaneous response of the performance hybrid is a great advantage,” Bergmeister commented on the enhancements.
