Polestar on track to double physical retail footprint globally in 2021 including 22 new U.S. locations

Polestar will open over 40 new retail locations in 2021 as global growth continues

MAHWAH, N.J. – Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car brand, has reached several milestones in its period of rapid retail expansion. The brand will double its number of retail “Spaces” around the world by the end of the year, with approximately half of the new locations planned to open throughout the United States.

Polestar has expanded its U.S. retail network, with a total of 25 showrooms expected to be operating by the end of 2021, 16 of which are appointed or already delivering cars. Globally, Polestar will be operational in 18 different markets by the end of this year, doubling the number of markets from 2020. Polestar service points across these 18 markets should surpass 780 by year end.

“We have made a significant foothold across the US market in the first half of 2021, and plan to keep expanding rapidly through the rest of the year. Interest in the brand is at an all time high, and we are excited to continue to bring more cities online in the second half of the year,” says Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar in North America.

In the US, customers can already test drive, purchase, and service Polestar vehicles at locations in: Austin; Bellevue, WA; Boston, Detroit, Denver, San Francisco (Corte Madera and San Jose), Los Angeles, Minneapolis; New York, Princeton, NJ; and Scottsdale, AZ.

The following locations will be open for test drives, purchase, and service in the coming weeks: Orange County, CA; Central New Jersey; Charlotte, NC; Grapevine, TX.

After purchase, the simplified customer experience continues. Customers living within 150 miles of a Polestar Space or Service Point receive pickup, delivery, and servicing of their vehicle. For those living outside of that range or in a market awaiting the opening of a Polestar Space, the brand also offers a mobile service program in which a Polestar technician travels to the owner’s location for minor repairs or software updates.

Polestar’s fast-paced journey has not been limited to its retail footprint. In June, the company announced its intention to manufacture the forthcoming Polestar 3 SUV in the USA, the world’s largest SUV market. The announcement globalizes the brand’s manufacturing footprint for production of the third vehicle in the Polestar lineup, complementing the Polestar 1 and 2 which are already on the road on three continents.
