Porsche Taycan’s 2024 Major Update

Porsche enhances the Taycan significantly, unveiling the latest iteration with considerable upgrades. The enhanced models boast increased power, extended range, quicker acceleration, and faster, more stable charging capabilities. Porsche’s design team has refined the Taycan’s aesthetics, particularly distinguishing the Turbo variants. The update brings a more comprehensive standard equipment list and introduces the newest Porsche Driver Experience, featuring an advanced display and control concept.

All three Taycan variants—the sports sedan, the Taycan Cross Turismo with an optional off-road package, and the Taycan Sport Turismo—will incorporate these updates from launch. Customers can choose from four powertrain options, available in both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations, set to hit Porsche Centres in spring 2024.

During its journey to mass production, the Taycan underwent rigorous testing, with engineers and test drivers covering over 3.6 million kilometers globally. This effort underscores Porsche’s commitment to pioneering in the all-electric sports car segment, with nearly 150,000 Taycans produced to date. The Taycan enjoys strong market presence in the US, UK, Germany, and China.

Kevin Giek, head of the Taycan model line, remarked, “The Taycan marked the beginning of a new e-mobility era,” highlighting its innovative impact and the significant advancements in performance, efficiency, and usability with this update.

Performance enhancements are notable, with the updated Taycan models accelerating significantly faster than their predecessors. For instance, the Taycan and Taycan Turbo S now reach 100 km/h in 4.8 and 2.4 seconds, respectively, with the Turbo S model enjoying a system output boost to 700 kW/952 PS through Launch Control.

The Taycan’s range sees a dramatic improvement, with an increase of up to 35 percent, translating to a WLTP range of up to 678 km. Charging efficiency has also been enhanced, with the ability to charge at up to 320 kW at 800-volt DC stations, reducing charging times significantly.

Advanced technology and comfort are at the forefront of the Taycan’s update. All models now come with adaptive air suspension as standard, and an optional Porsche Active Ride suspension is available for all-wheel drive versions. This system maintains an optimal balance between comfort and dynamics, ensuring a smooth yet responsive driving experience.

Efficiency advancements play a critical role, with updates across the powertrain, batteries, thermal management, and more, resulting in improved performance alongside greater efficiency. The Taycan also introduces new aerodynamically optimized wheels and tires to further reduce resistance.

Despite shedding up to 15 kilograms, the Taycan’s standard equipment list has expanded, now including features like ambient lighting, ParkAssist, heated front seats, and more, all standard.
