Acura has announced the return of the iconic RSX nameplate with the debut of its next-generation all-electric vehicle. Built on Honda’s new EV platform and featuring the proprietary ASIMO OS operating system, the RSX EV will also be the first electric vehicle produced at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio. The model, which boasts a sleek, coupe-inspired design, is set to redefine the brand’s performance and sustainability standards.

Key Highlights:

  • Prototype road testing for the all-electric RSX has begun, featuring a custom camouflage wrap designed by Acura’s global design team.
  • Honda EV Hub in Ohio will handle production, using innovative processes like megacasting for larger EV components.
  • The RSX EV builds on Acura’s Performance EV Concept, showcasing a futuristic approach to “fun-to-drive” performance.
  • The 2025 Acura ADX, a new compact turbocharged SUV, will launch this spring, further expanding Acura’s premium lineup.
  • Honda’s reimagined manufacturing approach focuses on environmentally responsible layouts and cutting-edge technologies.

A Legacy Reimagined

The Acura RSX, inspired by the legendary coupe, is set to combine modern aesthetics with exceptional performance. Mike Langel, Acura’s assistant vice president of National Sales, noted, “The nameplate pays homage to the Acura RSX with its coupe-like silhouette, but it truly represents a forward-looking approach to fun-to-drive performance.”

Production at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio marks a milestone for Acura and Honda. Mike Fischer, leader of Honda’s BEV project, emphasized, “The establishment of the Honda EV Hub represents not only the start of EV production but the complete reimagining of our approach to manufacturing.”

Pioneering Manufacturing Innovations

With less than a year until EV production begins, the Honda EV Hub is already undergoing significant upgrades. Key advancements include the installation of 6,000-ton high-pressure die cast machines for megacasting the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) cases, a first for Honda globally. These IPU cases are integral to housing the EV battery and ensuring platform durability.
