Chevrolet has unveiled the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the renowned Mint 400 off-road race, where it will compete with the Hall Racing team. This all-electric truck, driven by Chad Hall in the Open Production EV class, highlights Chevrolet’s dedication to off-road excellence. Built with 98% GM production parts, it serves as a testing platform for future vehicles, blending innovation with proven off-road capability.
Key Highlights:
- ZR2 Features: Includes lifted suspension, Multimatic damper technology, locking differentials, and underbody skid protection.
- Power Specs: Boasts a tri-motor electric system with 1,100 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, paired with 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires.
- Quick Build: Developed in just five months, showcasing Chevrolet’s engineering efficiency.
- Team Success: Hall Racing has completed 53 of 54 races since 2017, proving reliability in tough conditions.

The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept builds on Chevrolet’s successful ZR2 lineup, seen in models like the Colorado ZR2 and Silverado ZR2. Its prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve dampers enhance off-road performance, offering over 13 inches of wheel travel. This design ensures the truck can conquer the Mint 400’s demanding terrain while providing data for Chevrolet’s engineers.
“There is no better proving ground to test the limits of our vehicles than competitive racing,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept, which uses 98% GM production parts, showcases some of the best of Chevrolet to produce a beyond-capable pickup to tackle a challenging race of the Mint 400’s magnitude.”

Chevrolet engineers will collaborate with the Hall Racing team to study the truck’s performance. Insights gained will refine production vehicles and 44+ off-road accessories available to customers. “Working with the Chevy engineers is always a good day at the office,” said Chad Hall, primary driver and owner of Hall Racing. “What we learn from racing is applied to vehicles consumers can buy. An off-road race like The Mint 400 is equivalent to a lifetime of vehicle wear and tear.”
The reveal aligns with Chevrolet’s upcoming 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss, an off-road-ready electric variant launching this summer. It features a factory lift, 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, red tow hooks, and a new Terrain Mode for better control in tight spaces. This model brings race-inspired capability to everyday drivers.
Chevrolet’s efforts reflect General Motors’ push toward an all-electric future, blending advanced technology with rugged performance. The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept not only competes at the Mint 400 but also paves the way for innovative, customer-ready off-road vehicles.
