SAN FRANCISCO & BERLIN & PARIS & ZURICH – Volta, an industry leader in public electric vehicle charging, today published an update on its activities in its major European markets. Special focus was on new contracts for the installation of AC and DC charging stations in Germany and Switzerland as well as the first installation at a retail location in France.
Volta has signed location deals with global sports retail chain Decathlon and German cinema group Cineplex, starting with St. Gallen in Switzerland and Penzing in Germany. In addition, Volta recently completed the installation of the first charging stations in France at popular local restaurant Key West near Annecy. Volta will continue to work with site owners in various European countries over the coming months to install new charging stations at additional sites and expand the Volta network.
” Europe remains a top priority in our expansion strategy and it is encouraging to see such a positive response from the market as we continue to combine clean kilometers with business opportunities and help our partners achieve their business and climate goals,” said Chris Wendel, Co-founder and President of Volta. “ Our smart charging network is built on understanding and managing ongoing changes in consumer and driver behavior, which means better outcomes for businesses and consumers alike. We look forward to continuing to expand our presence in Europe while building mutually beneficial partnerships with our retail, business and media partners.”
With immersive, large-format digital screens located close to the entrances of popular commercial and retail locations, Volta stations also serve as demand magnets for EV rollouts, locking consumers into locations and enabling brands to reach shoppers before they enter a store to make a purchase to do. The expansion of the Volta network is based on best-in-class behavioral science and machine learning technology, enabling the company to deploy infrastructure intelligently and efficiently.
” My customers have been very quick and enthusiastic about Volta’s unique charging stations,” said Grégory Sabatier, owner of Key West. ” After switching on, customers were satisfied with the charging experience, while the advertising model immediately aroused real interest in terms of local communication. I am very proud to be the first French site to have a Volta station installed.”
Volta’s expansion in Europe will be driven by experienced local teams consisting of charging infrastructure hardware and software engineers, SaaS experts and outdoor digital media specialists operating from offices in Berlin and Paris.
