Dacia has opened order books for the 2026 Spring, retaining its position as the UK’s most affordable new electric vehicle. With the automaker’s £3,750 Electric Car Grant applied, the entry-level Expression Electric 70 starts at £12,240 on-the-road. First customer deliveries are scheduled for spring 2026.
Highlights
- Entry price of £12,240 after Dacia’s £3,750 Electric Car Grant makes Spring the UK’s cheapest new EV
- New 70 hp and 100 hp motors deliver improved acceleration, with the higher-output version reaching 62 mph in 9.6 seconds
- 24.3 kWh LFP battery provides up to 140 miles WLTP range and supports 40 kW DC fast charging
- Upgraded chassis, suspension, and braking enhance everyday driving confidence and composure

Powertrain and Battery Updates
The 2026 Spring introduces two new permanent magnet synchronous motors. The 70 hp unit produces 52 kW and 137 Nm of torque, completing the 0-62 mph sprint in 12.3 seconds. The 100 hp variant generates 75 kW with identical torque figures, reducing the benchmark time to 9.6 seconds.
Both configurations use a new 24.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack containing 108 cells. Dacia states this chemistry offers improved thermal safety, extended longevity, and reduced cost compared to alternative battery technologies. This marks the first use of LFP technology within Renault Group.
Combined WLTP driving range reaches 140 miles on either powertrain. Energy consumption is certified at 124 Wh/km in the combined cycle.
Charging Capabilities
A new 40 kW onboard DC charger enables rapid charging from 20-80% in 29 minutes. The full charging specifications include:
- Domestic socket (2.3 kW): 10 hours 11 minutes (20-100%)
- Wallbox (7.4 kW): 3 hours 20 minutes (20-100%)
- DC rapid charge (125A): 46 minutes (0-80%)
- DC rapid charge (125A): 29 minutes (20-80%)
Standard equipment includes a Mode 3 charging cable compatible with wall-box installations.

Chassis and Suspension Revisions
Dacia has re-engineered the Spring’s underpinnings for improved driving dynamics. The refreshed chassis features retuned suspension and an upgraded braking system designed to deliver greater composure across a wider range of everyday conditions.
Front suspension utilizes a MacPherson strut configuration with lower arm, while the rear employs a twist beam setup. The braking system consists of 238 mm front discs and 170 mm rear drums. Turning circle measures 9.63 meters between kerbs.
Interior Technology
The cabin receives a digital upgrade with a 7-inch instrument cluster standard across the range. Dacia’s YouClip accessory mounting system returns alongside enhanced interior materials.
Extreme trim levels add a 10.1-inch Media Nav Live touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Connected Services are included for eight years on these models.
