New Design Language Takes Shape

“Radical simplicity is the core of Audi’s new design philosophy,” says Frascella. “True clarity is achieved by reducing everything to the essential—the Concept C is the first manifestation of a new design language that feels intuitive, confident, and unmistakably Audi.”

The concept extends beyond surface styling. It represents a fundamental shift in how Audi approaches product development, balancing technical innovation with emotional appeal.

Heritage Meets Innovation

Audi has demonstrated leadership through technological advancement since the brand’s rebirth 60 years ago. Models like the Ur-quattro, TT coupe, and R8 V8 established the brand’s identity across successive generations. The Concept C continues this trajectory.

The Singleframe grille, introduced on the 2004 Audi A6 and featured on every model since, undergoes significant reinterpretation. The new vertical frame configuration draws direct inspiration from the Auto Union Type C race car from 1936, creating presence through central positioning between redesigned light signatures.

“London is a city built on innovation, so we are incredibly proud to host the Audi Concept C following its public debut at the IAA Munich,” said José Miguel Aparicio, Audi UK director. “Over many decades Audi has set the mould for groundbreaking design, particularly with the TT coupe, and the Concept C is the brand’s next step on our mission to become the leader in the premium space.”

Interior

Interior Focuses on Material Quality

The radical simplicity philosophy extends throughout the cabin, where material selection and geometric precision define the experience. Key interior elements include:

  • Anodized aluminium surfaces with titanium-inspired finish conveying technical precision
  • Round steering wheel featuring haptic feedback elements
  • Physical controls manufactured from anodized aluminium, replacing purely digital interfaces
  • Geometric forms creating visual harmony throughout the cockpit

Tactility and build quality receive particular emphasis. The return of physical controls represents a deliberate departure from fully digital interfaces, acknowledging driver preference for mechanical feedback during operation.

Retractable Hardtop System

The Concept C introduces a retractable folding hardtop to Audi’s roadster lineup for the first time. The system preserves the vehicle’s sculptural profile when closed while enabling open-air driving with single-button operation. This engineering solution addresses the traditional compromise between coupe aesthetics and convertible functionality.

Immersive London Venue

Below The Lights, located at Piccadilly Circus, provided the setting for the UK debut. The venue specializes in immersive, digitally driven experiences, featuring a 14-metre-wide LED display that amplified the concept car’s design details and craftsmanship during the presentation.
