bp Launches US EV Charging Hub

In a significant move to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the US, bp has officially opened its first bp pulse Gigahub™ at the bp America headquarters in Houston, Texas. This initiative marks a pivotal step in bp’s effort to support the growing demand for EV charging solutions, providing 24 high-speed charging points to both the public and EV drivers across the nation. Set to open its doors on April 2, the bp pulse Gigahub™ aims to cater to the increasing number of EV users, demonstrating bp’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.

  • 24 High-Speed Charging Points: Equipped with Tritium 150kW DC fast chargers for efficient charging.

  • Integration with bp pulse App: Allows users to locate the site, check charging availability, and connect to WiFi.
  • Support for EV Adoption: Aims to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles in the US by providing reliable charging infrastructure.

Emma Delaney, bp’s Executive Vice President for Customers & Products, expressed excitement about the launch, emphasizing the importance of understanding customer charging preferences to support the global transition to electric vehicles. “As we expand our global footprint, I am thrilled to unveil our first EV charging Gigahub in the US. With leading fast charging positions already in key markets in the UK, China, and Germany, we’re learning about customer charging preferences on the go.”

Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas, highlighted the strategic importance of the Gigahub™, “We’re excited to bring bp pulse to America’s energy corridor and expand our presence in the US public EV-charging market. This project will bring fast, reliable charging to EV drivers when and where they need it, helping support faster electric-vehicle adoption in the US.”

The bp pulse Gigahub™ is part of bp’s broader strategy to invest significantly in EV charging infrastructure, with a commitment to invest $1 billion by 2030 and deploy 3,000 charge points by 2025. bp aims to increase its global network of EV charge points to more than 100,000 by 2030, focusing on rapid or ultra-fast charging to meet the evolving needs of EV drivers.
