NEW DELHI – BYD, a leading global manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs), showcased its new luxury model, the BYD Seal, and a limited edition of the BYD ATTO 3 in Forest Green at the Indian Auto Expo 2023. The BYD Seal, which has sold over 50,000 units in China within five months, is set to be launched in India by the end of 2023. The All-New e6 and BYD ATTO 3 are already available in the local market, making the BYD Seal the third passenger EV to be released in India within two years.
BYD’s display at the Auto Expo 2023 was divided into four zones, showcasing not only its current and new vehicle products but also technological innovations that enhance the performance and safety of vehicles. These new products and innovations align with the convention’s theme of “Technological Innovations For A Better Life.”
The BYD Seal is a luxury sedan equipped with BYD’s EV platform (e-Platform 3.0) and the revolutionary ultra-safe Blade Battery. It is also the first vehicle with CTB (cell to body) technology, which improves the vehicle’s safety, stability, and handling. The CTB-supported BYD Seal can withstand a 50-ton heavy-duty truck rolling test and has a range of up to 700 km on a single charge.
The Limited Edition of the BYD ATTO 3 in Forest Green was also on display at the event. Only 1,200 units of this edition will be available in India for Rs. 34.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The BYD ATTO 3, which has a range of 480 km and received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, was launched in India in November 2022 and has received 1,500 bookings to date.
BYD has expanded its network to 24 showrooms across 21 cities in India and plans to double this presence to 53 showrooms within 2023. They aim to sell 15,000 units of the BYD ATTO 3 and All-New e6 next year and to take up 40% of the Indian EV market by 2030.
