Cox Automotive and DHL Supply Chain have partnered to provide comprehensive EV battery services in the UK, marking a significant advancement for the electric vehicle industry. This collaboration introduces the UK’s largest EV battery services facility, located in Rugby, designed to support global manufacturers and fleet operators. The facility offers battery triage, repair, and remanufacturing services by Cox Automotive, enhanced by DHL’s logistics and storage expertise, meeting the rising demand for EV battery servicing infrastructure both during and after warranty periods.

This initiative is a pivotal step for the EV industry in the UK, addressing critical needs in EV battery management and maintenance. As electric vehicle adoption grows, robust infrastructure becomes essential to service EV batteries effectively. Situated within DHL’s EV Centre of Excellence in Rugby, which spans 146,000 square feet, the new facility dedicates 35,000 square feet to battery services, making it the largest of its kind in the country and a one-stop solution for battery care.
Cox Automotive leverages its expertise in connected automotive services, drawing from successful operations in the United States and Europe. Its EV Battery Solutions division, launched in the UK after acquiring Spiers New Technologies (SNT) in 2021, delivers specialized triage, repair, and remanufacturing services. Meanwhile, DHL Supply Chain enhances the operation with its proficiency in logistics and storage, managing the inbound and outbound logistics of batteries.
This partnership sets a new benchmark for EV battery circularity in the UK, fostering a scalable circular economy for batteries. It tackles industry challenges such as government mandates, consumer concerns about EV durability, and the need for technical expertise in EV maintenance.
