Dacia has slashed the price of its electric Spring to £11,990 on-the-road, retaining its title as the UK's cheapest new car, electric or otherwise.

Dacia has cut the starting price of its electric Spring to £11,990 on-the-road in the UK, making it the country’s cheapest new electric car. The Spring Extreme Electric 100, which adds a more powerful 100 hp motor and extra equipment, starts at £12,990 — just £1,000 above the base Expression trim. Range, Charging, and Recent Updates

Spring was recently refreshed with more powerful motors, a new high-tech LFP battery, retuned suspension, and upgraded brakes. It now offers a combined WLTP range of up to 140 miles and can recharge from 20-80% in as little as 29 minutes.

Practicality

Despite its compact footprint, Spring carries a 308-liter trunk that expands to 1,004 liters with the rear seats folded. Dacia’s YouClip accessory system is also standard, letting owners mount clip-on accessories throughout the cabin.

Lina Ribeiro, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, said: “Dacia has always worked hard to remove barriers to new car ownership, and with Spring’s new pricing, it takes our purpose further than ever. Production efficiencies and a strong drive to continue to offer real value to our customers have helped us pass on the savings and as such the most affordable new car on the market, electric or otherwise, is one of the smartest value choices on the road today. When the price is clear and the running costs are low, going electric simply makes sense.”

Dacia has sold more than 260,000 vehicles in the UK since launching in the country in January 2013.
