Continental Supplies EcoContact 7 Tires for Nissan N7

Continental will supply its EcoContact 7 as the factory tire for the all-electric Nissan N7 in the 235/45 R19 size, citing low rolling resistance and reduced urban noise as key benefits.

Continental will supply its EcoContact 7 as the factory tire for the all-electric Nissan N7, fitting the model in the 235/45 R19 99Y XL FR size. In that dimension, the tire earns top EU tire label ratings for energy efficiency and rolling noise, according to the company. Continental tied the EcoContact 7‘s efficiency to a new rubber compound and its Smart Energy Casing construction, which reduce internal friction and lower rolling resistance.

Highlights

  • The EcoContact 7 is approved for the Nissan N7 in a single size: 235/45 R19 99Y XL FR.
  • Continental reports top EU tire label ratings for both energy efficiency and rolling noise in the 19-inch dimension.
  • A new rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology reduce internal friction across the carcass, inner liner, and sidewall to lower rolling resistance.
  • A golf-ball-inspired “aerodimple” sidewall and a Silent Pattern tread target lower energy consumption and reduced urban noise.

How the Tire Lowers Rolling Resistance

The EcoContact 7’s efficiency comes from a new rubber compound paired with Continental’s Smart Energy Casing technology. Materials in the tire’s carcass, inner liner, and sidewall reduce internal friction, which lowers rolling resistance — a primary draw on an electric vehicle’s energy.

The sidewall is also shaped for aerodynamics. Continental’s “aerodimple” structure, modeled on the dimpled surface of a golf ball, integrates small dimples into the sidewall that minimize air turbulence behind the tire. The company says the design helps reduce the vehicle’s overall energy consumption.

How Does Continental Cut Rolling Noise?

Noise reduction comes from the Silent Pattern tread design. Continental optimized the spacing and angles of the tread blocks to lower the noise frequencies typically generated in urban traffic. The company reports the result is a quieter cabin for occupants and reduced noise for the surrounding environment — a relevant factor on electric vehicles, where the absence of engine noise makes tire sound more noticeable.

The EcoContact 7 joins a growing list of Continental original-equipment wins on electric models, following recent fitments on the smart #5 and a Renault-specific low-rolling-resistance tire derived from the same line.
