Enpower Greentech EV Battery Extends Range

Enpower Greentech has introduced a semi-solid-state, A-Sample battery that promises a 73% increase in driving range. This breakthrough was achieved using the company’s innovative “Swift” batteries, installed and tested in an American electric vehicle.

The heart of this advancement lies in the Swift battery’s unique composition, which includes less liquid electrolyte compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. This not only enhances safety but also reduces weight, making it an ideal choice for e-mobility applications.

Dr. Yong Che, CTO and Co-founder of Enpower Greentech, emphasizes the importance of this innovation. “Range anxiety is at the forefront of everyone’s mind. We know that our EV partners need their vehicles to stay on the road longer with cargo fleets that reach final destinations every time. This is why, safety and energy density are the dual-driving forces that push our R&D teams forward,” he stated.

The impact of this new technology was demonstrated with a 72kWh Swift EV pack, delivered to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in December 2023. This pack was tested on a class-1 EV, which previously had an estimated range of 110 miles using standard batteries. The Swift EV pack significantly increased this range to 190 miles without altering the vehicle’s size. This milestone marks a step toward the production of B-Samples and further commercialization.

Dr. Yong added, “Commercial and passenger EV companies can increase vehicle range significantly, as the Swift platform has shown. We are excited about this promising solution for electric vehicles. A 73% range boost should encourage OEM manufacturers to consider how they can provide an energy/safety matrix to their end-users and help speed the adoption of e-mobility.”

Enpower Greentech, Inc. stands at the forefront of solid-state battery development and commercialization. The company, with its commitment to meeting all Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) requirements, is set to start manufacturing these American-made batteries and packs in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in late 2024. Enpower Greentech’s developments are not just a leap forward for the company but signify a substantial step in the global shift towards sustainable e-mobility.
