In 2024, Electrify America significantly expanded its charging network and improved the customer experience across North America. The company increased its network to over 4,800 public chargers, emphasizing the addition of 350 kW capable chargers to support faster charging. This growth included opening larger, conveniently located stations, such as the first indoor flagship station in San Francisco, featuring 20 Hyper-Fast chargers, restrooms, lounge areas, and other amenities.

To enhance efficiency, Electrify America introduced policies like idle fees to minimize wait times, resulting in a smoother experience for users. These efforts drove a 50% increase in customer charging sessions—over 16 million sessions—and a 65% increase in energy delivered, totaling more than 600 gigawatt-hours (GWh) compared to the previous year. Looking forward, Electrify America plans to expand its network by 30% in 2025 to meet the rising demand from electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

Key Highlights:

  • Network Expansion: Grew to over 4,800 public chargers across North America.
  • Customer Experience: Introduced idle fees to reduce wait times and improve access.
  • Flagship Station: Launched an indoor station in San Francisco with 20 Hyper-Fast chargers and amenities.
  • Increased Demand: Saw a 50% rise in charging sessions and 65% more energy delivered.
  • Future Growth: Plans a 30% network expansion in 2025 to support EV drivers’ needs.

Electrify America’s efforts in 2024 went beyond simply adding chargers; they focused on making charging faster, more convenient, and more enjoyable. The San Francisco flagship station stands out as a model for future locations, offering a comfortable space for drivers to relax while their vehicles charge. The introduction of idle fees tackled a key pain point—long wait times at busy stations—ensuring chargers remain available for those who need them.

This customer-focused approach paid off, as shown by the impressive growth in both usage and energy delivered. As the EV market continues to grow, Electrify America’s commitment to expanding its infrastructure and adapting to drivers’ evolving needs positions it as a leader in the charging industry heading into 2025.
