Wallbox, a leading provider of electric vehicle charging solutions, has announced the opening of pre-orders for its latest bi-directional charger, Quasar 2, specifically for eligible Kia EV9 owners and lessees. This advanced charger allows users to power areas of their homes, even during power outages, by utilizing their vehicle’s battery. Key features include fast charging capabilities, a compact and lightweight design, backup power functionality with the Power Recovery Unit, Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capabilities, and solar charging integration, making it a significant step toward sustainable energy management.
Key highlights of the Quasar 2 charger include:
- Up to 12 kW of power for rapid charging and discharging
- A compact and lightweight design for easy installation
- Backup power capability to keep areas of the home running during outages (requires the Power Recovery Unit)
- Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality to power parts of the home
- Solar charging integration for sustainable energy use
The Quasar 2, paired with the Power Recovery Unit, is available for pre-order starting at $6,440, excluding taxes and installation fees. Eligible Kia EV9 owners and lessees can secure their spot on the waitlist with a $100 deposit. Pre-ordering is initially limited to residents of California, Texas, Florida, New York, Washington, New Jersey, and Illinois, with a nationwide rollout planned later. Installation must be arranged separately through Wallbox’s official provider, COIL Inc., or another certified installer, with COIL recommended for optimal security and functionality.
