- 2,195 Fiat 500e BEVs recalled for FMVSS 108 noncompliance
- Horizontal headlamp adjustment mechanism not properly covered
- Improper alignment can reduce visibility or create glare for others
- Remedy: dealers to install headlight adjustment plugs free of charge
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) has issued a safety recall (NHTSA 25V715) affecting approximately 2,195 units of the 2024β2025 Fiat 500e Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The affected vehicles were produced between November 2, 2023, and May 23, 2025, and may have been built without plugs covering the horizontal headlamp aim adjustment mechanism, in violation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 for lamps and reflective devices.
FMVSS 108 Noncompliance
Under FMVSS 108 S10.18.4, visually or optically aimable headlamps with a lower beam must not have an accessible horizontal adjustment mechanism. The affected 500e units allow such access, creating a potential for headlight misalignment.
According to the recall filing, improperly adjusted headlights could reduce the driverβs forward visibility and increase glare for oncoming traffic, elevating the risk of a crash.
Cause and Remedy
The issue stems from a missing production plug rather than a defective part. The headlamp component supplier is Marelli Automotive Lighting Italy S.p.A. FCA US will install a plug over the adjustment opening to ensure compliance.
Dealers will be notified beginning October 28, 2025, and owner notification letters will follow on December 10, 2025. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting October 28.
