Genesis Motor North America has announced a new initiative to provide complimentary North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters to current U.S. owners of its electric vehicles (EVs). This program targets owners who purchased or leased their Genesis EV on or before January 31, 2025, allowing them to tap into Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. By adding approximately 20,000 additional DC fast charging stations, this move nearly doubles the charging options available to Genesis EV drivers, who can already access Combined Charging System (CCS1) chargers. The initiative enhances convenience and supports a seamless ownership experience for Genesis EV customers across the United States.
Key Highlights:
- Complimentary adapters: Offered to U.S. owners of Genesis EVs purchased or leased on or before January 31, 2025, at no cost.
- Expanded charging network: Provides access to an additional 20,000 Tesla Superchargers, increasing the total to over 45,000 NACS and CCS1 DC fast chargers nationwide.
- Claim process: Starting the week of April 7, eligible owners will receive emails to redeem their adapters, with a 60-day window to complete the process.
- Future models: From the 2026 model year, Genesis EVs will feature native NACS ports, eliminating the need for adapters.
To claim their adapter, eligible owners must maintain an active MyGenesis account and opt into email communications. Starting the week of April 7, Genesis will send redemption emails, prompting owners to verify their details. The process must be finalized within 60 days, after which the adapter will be shipped with a tracking number provided. Genesis emphasizes that only its authorized CCS-to-NACS adapter ensures reliable charging at Tesla Superchargers, underscoring the importance of using the provided equipment.
Tedros Mengiste, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America, remarked, “At Genesis, we pride ourselves on providing customers with the best possible ownership experience. By offering complimentary NACS adapters, we will make charging even more convenient for our current EV owners. This reinforces our commitment to treating every customer as our ‘son-nim,’ or honored guest.” This initiative reflects Genesis’s dedication to customer satisfaction and innovation.
Looking forward, Genesis plans to equip all EVs with native NACS ports starting in 2026, streamlining access to Tesla Superchargers without adapters. This shift highlights the brand’s proactive approach to adapting to industry standards and enhancing infrastructure compatibility. Current owners of models like the GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80 will benefit immediately from the adapter program, bridging the gap until the transition to native NACS ports.
This collaboration with Tesla’s Supercharger network marks a significant step for Genesis, offering its EV drivers access to one of the largest and most reliable fast-charging networks in the U.S. It aligns with Genesis’s broader mission to support the growing adoption of electric vehicles while maintaining a focus on design, safety, and performance. Genesis Motor North America, part of the global Genesis brand, continues to expand its presence through a network of over 200 independent U.S. retailers, delivering a growing lineup of award-winning electric models, SUVs, and sedans.
