Lucid and NVIDIA Join Forces to Deliver Level 4 Autonomous EVs

Lucid is partnering with NVIDIA to deliver one of the first consumer Level 4 autonomous EVs and apply AI-driven manufacturing and digital twin technology across its future midsize lineup.

  • Lucid plans to launch one of the world’s first Level 4 autonomous EVs using NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor.
  • NVIDIA DRIVE AV will accelerate Lucid’s ADAS roadmap, beginning with L2++ features in Gravity and future midsize models.
  • AI-driven manufacturing via NVIDIA’s Industrial and Omniverse platforms will enhance quality, reduce costs, and speed production.
  • Partnership reinforces Lucid’s leadership in software-defined electric mobility and intelligent manufacturing innovation.

Lucid Group, Inc. announced a major step toward full vehicle autonomy through an expanded partnership with NVIDIA, integrating the powerful DRIVE AGX Thor platform into its next generation of midsize electric vehicles. The collaboration is designed to deliver one of the first consumer-owned Level 4 autonomous vehicles, representing a major milestone in the evolution of intelligent EV technology.

Advancing Electric Mobility with AI-Powered Autonomy

Building on Lucid’s in-house DreamDrive Pro system—introduced with the Lucid Air in 2021 and recently upgraded with hands-free lane change capability—the new roadmap will leverage NVIDIA DRIVE AV to enable an “eyes-off, hands-off, mind-off” driving experience.

To achieve this, Lucid will integrate dual DRIVE AGX Thor computers powered by the NVIDIA DriveOS operating system, creating a redundant and centralized computing architecture. This multi-sensor suite, combining cameras, radar, and lidar, will support scalable autonomy across Lucid’s product range.

The company’s next vehicles, including the Lucid Gravity SUV and forthcoming midsize lineup, will evolve through continuous software updates—from enhanced driver assistance (L2++) to full Level 4 autonomy.

Intelligent Manufacturing Through NVIDIA Industrial AI

Beyond in-vehicle systems, Lucid is extending NVIDIA’s AI technologies into its manufacturing operations. By deploying the NVIDIA Industrial platform and Omniverse, Lucid is developing “smart factories” that utilize digital twin technology, predictive analytics, and intelligent robotics to optimize production.

Key goals include:

  • Reducing manufacturing costs and accelerating production timelines.
  • Improving quality assurance through real-time process analytics.
  • Enhancing flexibility with reconfigurable production lines and autonomous systems.

These tools will enable Lucid to model and simulate entire factories before implementation, accelerating commissioning and scaling while improving safety and operational efficiency.

Strategic Vision: AI as the New Drive System

Marc Winterhoff, Interim CEO of Lucid, emphasized the company’s vision to pair advanced EV engineering with AI-driven intelligence:

“We’ve already set the benchmark in EV performance and efficiency. Now, by combining Lucid’s engineering excellence with NVIDIA’s AI leadership, we’re building the smartest and safest autonomous vehicles on the road.”

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang added:

“As vehicles evolve into software-defined supercomputers on wheels, we’re reimagining mobility with intelligence at every turn.”

Setting the Stage for the Future of EVs

Lucid’s partnership with NVIDIA marks a defining shift for the electric vehicle sector—where luxury, performance, autonomy, and manufacturing intelligence converge. By integrating AI at every layer—from vehicle systems to production—Lucid aims to lead the industry into a software-defined era of electric mobility.
