Lucid Group, Inc., a leader in advanced electric vehicles, has announced that Peter Rawlinson, the former CEO and CTO, has stepped down from his prior roles to become Strategic Technical Advisor to the Chairman. Marc Winterhoff, previously the Chief Operating Officer, now serves as Interim CEO. This shift aligns with Lucid’s succession planning, as the company begins searching for a permanent CEO to guide its future growth.
Key Highlights:
- Peter Rawlinson’s Legacy: Led Lucid for 12 years, transforming it from a small startup to a global EV technology leader.
- Marc Winterhoff’s Role: Appointed Interim CEO, bringing automotive expertise to steer Lucid’s next phase.
- Future Plans: Focus on ramping up Lucid Gravity production and launching midsize platform vehicles.
Lucid Group, headquartered in Newark, California, shared these updates as part of a strategic move to build on its recent achievements. Rawlinson, who joined Lucid in 2016, was instrumental in launching the award-winning Lucid Air and the newly introduced Lucid Gravity. His leadership cemented Lucid’s reputation as a pioneer in sustainable mobility. “Now that we have successfully launched the Lucid Gravity, I have decided it is finally the right time for me to step aside from my roles at Lucid,” Rawlinson said, expressing pride in the team’s accomplishments over his 12-year tenure.
The Board of Directors, led by Chairman Turqi Alnowaiser, commended Rawlinson’s contributions. “Since launching Lucid in 2016, Peter has been instrumental in the company’s transition from concept to reality,” Alnowaiser stated. With Rawlinson shifting to an advisory role, the Board has engaged a leading executive search firm to identify a permanent CEO. This new leader will drive Lucid’s strategy, emphasizing long-term growth and profitability.
Marc Winterhoff assumes the Interim CEO role with extensive automotive industry experience. “Lucid’s technology leadership is now well-established and our roadmap well-defined,” Winterhoff remarked, underscoring his commitment to advancing production and innovation. His priorities include scaling Lucid Gravity production, preparing for the launch of three midsize vehicles, and developing the cost-efficient Atlas drive unit while cutting costs.
Lucid is a Silicon Valley-based innovator assembling its vehicles at a state-of-the-art factory in Arizona. The company continues to push electric vehicle technology forward, focusing on efficiency and design. As it navigates this leadership change, Lucid remains dedicated to its mission of advancing sustainable mobility, with Winterhoff leading operations and Rawlinson providing strategic support for the next phase of growth in the competitive EV market.
