The Lynk & Co 08 has earned a Guinness World Records title for achieving 293 kilometers in fully electric driving mode, the longest distance recorded by a plug-in hybrid SUV. The record was certified following a controlled test conducted in January 2026.
Highlights
- Record-setting range: The Lynk & Co 08 traveled 293 km on electric power alone during a certified Guinness World Records attempt
- Battery specifications: A 39.6 kWh high-energy battery with IP68 certification enables up to 200 km of electric range under WLTP testing
- Real-world validation: The test involved more than six hours of continuous driving at average speeds between 50 and 60 km/h
- Combined powertrain output: A 1.5-liter engine paired with a high-performance electric motor delivers 346 hp
Test Protocol and Certification
The Guinness World Records-approved test took place at Centro Dinámico Pegaso racetrack in Toluca, Mexico. The verification process involved multiple specialists:
- Telemetry specialists analyzed performance and mileage data
- A certified driver operated the vehicle for more than six hours
- Civil engineers measured physical and technical track parameters
- Mechanical engineers inspected the vehicle before and after testing
The continuous driving at speeds between 50 and 60 km/h confirmed range performance under realistic conditions rather than laboratory testing scenarios.
Technical Specifications
The Lynk & Co 08’s record attempt relied on several engineering features:
- 39.6 kWh battery with IP68 water and dust resistance certification
- Intelligent thermal management for efficiency optimization over extended driving
- Aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient below 0.30
- Modular platform engineered for low energy consumption
Powertrain and Driving Modes
The plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.5-liter combustion engine with an electric motor for a total output of 346 hp. Drivers can select from three modes—Pure, Hybrid, and Power—managed automatically by the EMP system to balance performance and efficiency based on driving conditions.
The 200 km WLTP-rated electric range allows for multiple days of typical commuting on electric power alone before requiring either charging or gasoline.
