PowerGo and E.ON Drive Infrastructure celebrated the launch of their new ultra-fast charging hub at Lillebælt Syd, Denmark, on October 11. To mark the occasion, both companies offered free EV charging for a day, promoting green energy solutions and convenient electric vehicle access for travelers along the highway.
Both operators expanded their public charging network in collaboration with the Danish Road Directorate, with a focus on user-friendly solutions and sustainable energy. While they operated independently during the construction phase, PowerGo and E.ON Drive Infrastructure have consistently collaborated to enhance EV charging services.
Key Highlights:
- Free charging day celebrated the opening of Lillebælt Syd charging hub.
- Ultra-fast charging hubs provide a combined total of 44 charging points.
- Both operators use certified green electricity for charging locations.
- Visitors were offered free coffee or hot chocolate during the celebration.
PowerGo and E.ON Drive Infrastructure’s new charging hub aims to meet the rising demand for efficient and environmentally friendly EV charging along Denmark’s highway E20. E.ON Drive Infrastructure has opened two hubs at Lillebælt, northbound and southbound, with 30 charging points in total, while PowerGo has set up one hub at Lillebælt Syd, featuring 14 charging points.
Morten Hersoug, CEO of E.ON Drive Infrastructure, highlighted the significance of collaboration, stating: “The opening celebration is the highlight of a close collaboration we have had with PowerGo. The green transition requires us as CPOs to work together and share knowledge to ensure that EV drivers ultimately have the best conditions for charging their cars.”
The two operators are committed to using green electricity, sourced from certified renewable energy, across their networks. Ivo van Dam, CEO of PowerGo, added: “E.ON’s green ambitions align with those of PowerGo, making them the perfect neighbors. We are also proud to offer ultra-fast charging at one of Denmark’s busiest traffic hubs. Ultra-fast charging is crucial for the electrification of the transport sector and will make it more attractive for Danes to choose electric vehicles.”
The charging hubs contribute significantly to Denmark’s broader efforts in electrifying the transportation sector, making it more convenient and appealing for drivers to transition to electric vehicles. This development represents an important step towards achieving sustainable mobility solutions, powered by clean energy from solar sources.
