Renault Group is restructuring its electric vehicle charging business by moving it from the standalone Mobilize Beyond Automotive entity directly into commercial operations. The move places charging services under the leadership of Chief Growth Officer Fabrice Cambolive.
Highlights
- Renault integrates EV charging solutions into commercial operations, reporting to Chief Growth Officer Fabrice Cambolive for a streamlined customer experience.
- Charge Pass provides access to over one million European charging points, serving nearly 90,000 users at preferential rates.
- Mobilize Beyond Automotive ceases as a standalone entity, with non-strategic activities including the Duo quadricycle and Zity car-sharing discontinued.
- Renault positions itself as a V2G pioneer, launching the first commercial bi-directional charging offer for private customers in France in 2024.
Strategic Rationale
The decision aims to unify the customer experience for EV drivers while improving internal management by consolidating various charging components. Energy services enable drivers to charge at home, at the office, or on the road.
These solutions reduce charging costs through commercial offerings such as bi-directional charging (V2G), which allows EVs to feed energy back to the grid.
Charging Infrastructure Performance
Renault’s electric charging services have delivered measurable results across Europe:
- Charge Pass: Access to more than one million charging points across Europe at preferential rates, with nearly 90,000 active users
- Mobilize Fast Charge (France): More than 60 ultra-fast charging installations, targeting nearly 100 stations by the end of 2026
- Italy (Free to X network): Over 100 charging stations operational
V2G Technology Leadership
Renault launched the first commercial bi-directional charging offer for private customers in France in 2024. The company followed this with the first car-sharing fleet operated with V2G technology in the Netherlands in 2025.
Discontinued Activities
The Mobilize brand launched in 2021 to explore opportunities beyond automotive manufacturing. The entity served as an incubator and innovation driver, strengthening expertise in new areas while discontinuing less relevant paths.
Several Mobilize Beyond Automotive activities are now ending due to limited profitability or misalignment with strategic priorities:
- Duo electric quadricycle: Discontinued
- Zity car-sharing (Milan): Stopped
- Zity car-sharing (Madrid): Phasing out from next year
The Mobilize brand continues for Mobilize Financial Services. Other commercial uses of the brand will be assessed in coming months.
