The Siemens Inhab™ Load Manager provides a safe, cost-effective solution for homeowners to add electrical loads without major service upgrades. The system allows increased electrical usage for appliances like EV chargers and heat pumps without requiring costly panel replacements.
Key Highlights:
- UL certified energy management system to prevent overloads
- Same-day installation for new appliances without panel upgrades
- Benefits homeowners, installers, developers, and utilities
According to Pecan Street, nearly 48 million U.S. homes cannot accommodate additional electrical loads due to outdated infrastructure. Traditional panel upgrades cost between $4,000 and $25,000. The Siemens Inhab Load Manager offers a more affordable alternative to handle increased loads without costly upgrades.
The modular energy management system continuously monitors energy usage and can disconnect loads temporarily when the home’s capacity is reached, preventing overloads. When capacity becomes available, it reconnects, maintaining a safe and seamless energy supply. The device is NEC code-compliant and ensures energy usage remains within safe limits, making it an essential solution for the growing electrification trend.
“Home electrification is increasing in popularity and out of necessity,” said Jacob Middleton, Head of Residential Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA. “The growing popularity of electric vehicles, along with a renewed interest in adding electrical appliances and PV arrays with batteries, can quickly overwhelm the average home’s electrical panel without some sort of modifications.”
The Inhab Load Manager benefits not just homeowners but also installers, builders, developers, and utilities. It enables same-day installation of new appliances without costly electrical panel upgrades, and it doesn’t affect load calculations, which helps reduce construction costs. Additionally, utilities benefit by minimizing peak consumption and avoiding expensive infrastructure upgrades, which in turn benefits developers by reducing investment costs for new community builds.
Named by Green Builder Media as a 2024 Sustainable Product of the Year, the Siemens Inhab Load Manager aligns with sustainability and net-zero goals by using fewer materials, thus reducing waste. The energy management system, along with the broader Inhab portfolio, was initially launched at CES 2024 and offers continuous monitoring, load optimization, and full control over home energy consumption.
The Inhab Load Manager is available in North America through select online retailers and wholesale electrical distributors. It forms part of Siemens’ vision for a smart, electrified future, providing homeowners with the tools to manage increased energy demands effectively and cost-efficiently.
