Škoda Auto has unveiled a striking new concept motorcycle, the Slavia B, which reinterprets the brand’s historic 1899 Laurin & Klement (L&K) motorcycle through its Modern Solid design philosophy. This futuristic café racer blends nostalgia with innovation, marking the first in a series of reimagined Škoda classics. Designed in-house by exterior stylist Romain Bucaille, the electric-powered concept celebrates Škoda’s 130-year design legacy while embracing sustainability and digitalization. Though not intended for production, the Slavia B underscores Škoda’s commitment to honoring its past while shaping a bold future.

Key Highlights:

  • Tribute to History: The Slavia B concept honors the 1899 L&K motorcycle, a groundbreaking vehicle that solidified Škoda’s reputation for innovation.
  • Modern Solid Design: Incorporates Škoda’s new design language, featuring bold shapes, clean lines, and functional forms tailored for electric mobility.
  • Electric Power: The concept replaces the original combustion engine with an open frame, showcasing a suspended Škoda logo and a minimalist aesthetic.
  • Designer’s Vision: Led by Romain Bucaille, the design merges nostalgic elements like the original frame silhouette with futuristic features like a unique lighting signature.
  • Creative Process: Began with pencil sketches, evolving into digital renders to balance heritage and modernity.

The Slavia B concept reflects Škoda’s origins in two-wheeled vehicles, as the company started with bicycles and motorcycles in 1895. The design retains the iconic frame of the original Slavia B but adapts it for the electric era, with a vertical line dividing the front and rear for a sculptural balance. Bucaille, a car exterior designer and motorcycle enthusiast, drew inspiration from Václav Laurin’s pioneering work and Narcis Podsedníček’s 1901 Paris–Berlin race. The result is a sleek, minimalist café racer with crisp edges, a floating seat, and an integrated leather tool bag, embodying Škoda’s evolving identity.

This concept is the first of several planned reimaginings of Škoda classics, following models like the 200 RS and Voiturette. While the Slavia B won’t hit the roads, it serves as a bold statement of Škoda’s design direction, blending its rich heritage with a vision for sustainable, innovative mobility. More reimagined classics are expected, promising further glimpses into Škoda’s creative future.
