Taiga Unveils Three Electric Snowmobiles for 2027

Taiga Motors announces three new electric snowmobiles for MY27, featuring 120kW peak output, CCS fast charging, onboard power export, and connected fleet management tools.

Taiga Motors has announced its Model Year 2027 snowmobile lineup, expanding the Nomad platform with three purpose-built models: the Nomad Pro, Nomad Performance, and Nomad Scout. The Montreal-based manufacturer said the new lineup delivers higher power output, onboard energy export, and connected fleet management across all three configurations.

Highlights

  • 120kW peak output on the Performance and Scout models represents a 33% increase over the previous generation’s 90kW drive unit.
  • CCS fast charging reaches 80% in 20 minutes, using the same connector standard as the broader EV industry.
  • Onboard Power system delivers up to 3kW at 120V and 220V, turning the snowmobile into a mobile power source for remote cabins, rescue operations, and work sites.
  • Connected fleet tools include geofencing, remote speed limiting, digital keys, and app-based management — all standard across the lineup.

Platform Built on Field Data

The MY27 platform draws on data from roughly 1,000 vehicles operating across North America and Europe. Taiga said the fleet has accumulated more than one million kilometers over three years of development in extreme cold-weather environments, including arctic research stations at both poles.

More than 150 commercial operations currently run Nomad snowmobiles. The company said the new lineup is designed to accelerate adoption at scale.

“We’ve spent a decade making this possible,” said Samuel Bruneau, Founder and CEO of Taiga Motors. “We’re now at the tipping point where the value proposition of electric is simply better than gas, and that’s ultimately what every rider is looking for.”

Onboard Power Replaces the Generator

The MY27 Nomad’s Onboard Power system provides up to 3kW of output at 120V and 220V. Taiga said the feature can supply power to a remote cabin during a winter storm, support backcountry rescue operations, or run equipment at a mountain work site.

Unlike vehicle-to-grid systems that require home installation and additional hardware, Onboard Power works immediately on arrival. The system positions the snowmobile as a mobile energy source in locations where no road vehicle can reach.

Full Performance to –30°C

Taiga said a new battery and thermal management system maintains full performance down to –30°C with minimal range loss. The company did not disclose specific battery capacity or range figures for the MY27 models.

Emissions Reduction in Concentrated Operating Windows

According to Taiga, a conventional gas snowmobile emits hydrocarbons at roughly 200 times the annual rate of a modern passenger car and 40 times the carbon monoxide output. These emissions are concentrated into a four-month operating season in alpine environments.

The company said replacing 50 gas snowmobiles in a single resort fleet delivers the air quality equivalent of removing 2,000 cars from the area for a season. For European resort operators facing tightening sustainability requirements, the electric fleet option addresses compliance pressure directly.

Connected Fleet Management Across All Models

All three MY27 models include geofencing, remote speed limiting, digital keys, and app-based fleet control as standard. Taiga said these are industry firsts for the snowmobile category.

Fleet managers can define operating boundaries on a mountain, set speed and power limits for individual machines, and grant or restrict rider access remotely. A brake-activated throttle limitation system addresses one of the most common causes of snowmobile incidents at the hardware level.

A new 1kW 12V auxiliary system supports plug-and-play accessories including lights, winches, and hydraulics.

“After almost two seasons of operating our fleet of Taiga Nomads, I can confidently say that they live up to all of the promises of going electric: we’ve done next to no service or maintenance on them, our gas costs are way down, our staff are happy with the ease of use, and, best of all, we’ve unlocked new customer segments seeking the same thrilling activity without the noise and smell of traditional snowmobiles,” said Patrice Bonnefond, Owner, Les Volatiles, Les Saisies, France.

Three Models for Distinct Use Cases

Nomad Pro is the commercial configuration. It produces 60kW and is designed for ski patrol, fleet operators, tour companies, and utility applications. Higher regenerative braking reduces mechanical brake wear in mountain operations. Geofencing, speed limiting, and remote fleet control are built in.

Nomad Performance delivers 120kW from a new drive unit. Taiga said it can haul 1,000 pounds and described the 33% jump from 90kW as the largest single performance leap in the company’s history. Optional performance suspension is available.

Nomad Scout targets deep-snow and off-trail riding. It matches the Performance model’s 120kW output at any altitude and adds a 2-inch deeper lug track, updated rear suspension, narrower stance, and an integrated ski and snowboard mounting system. Optional Elka Stage 3 shocks are available.

Pre-orders opened March 11, 2026. Pricing is as follows:

  • Nomad Pro: $19,499 USD
  • Nomad Performance: $21,999 USD
  • Nomad Scout: $22,249 USD
