VinFast VF8 Qualifies for Canada’s $5,000 EV Rebate

VinFast's VF8 now qualifies for Canada's $5,000 federal EVAP rebate. Combined with provincial incentives, buyers can save up to $18,000, bringing the starting price to $35,070.

VinFast has confirmed that its VF8 midsize electric crossover now qualifies for Canada’s $5,000 federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) rebate. The eligibility took effect on February 16, 2026, when the new federal incentive program launched.

Highlights

  • The VinFast VF8 is now eligible for Canada’s $5,000 federal EVAP rebate, effective February 16, 2026.
  • Combined provincial and federal incentives can total up to $18,000 in rebates and savings for Canadian buyers.
  • After eligible credits, the VF8’s all-in MSRP starts at $35,070, positioning it as a competitively priced midsize electric crossover.
  • VinFast backs the VF8 with a 10-year, 200,000-kilometer warranty, one of the longest in the EV market.

Total Savings Potential Reaches $18,000

When the federal EVAP rebate is combined with available provincial incentives and credits, Canadian buyers can access up to $18,000 in total savings. As a result, the VF8’s effective starting price drops to $35,070 after all eligible credits are applied.

The EVAP program replaced Canada’s previous iZEV incentive. It offers up to $5,000 for battery-electric and fuel cell vehicles and up to $2,500 for plug-in hybrids. However, the rebate amounts decrease annually through 2030. Vehicles must have a final transaction value of $50,000 or less to qualify, unless they are manufactured in Canada.

VF8 Warranty Adds Long-Term Value

VinFast positions the VF8 as a premium electric crossover built for performance and comfort. The vehicle comes with a 10-year, 200,000-kilometer warranty. That coverage is among the most extensive in the North American EV market.

“VinFast is committed to accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in Canada by offering exceptional value, quality, and reliability,” said Rob Mueller, Deputy CEO of Sales and Marketing at VinFast Canada. “The new rebate eligibility reinforces our mission to make EV ownership more attainable for all Canadians.”

EVAP Rebate Declines After 2026

Canada’s EVAP program runs through 2030, but the incentive amounts step down each year. In 2027, the BEV rebate drops to $4,000. It holds at $3,000 in 2028 and 2029 before falling to $2,000 in the program’s final year. This declining schedule means 2026 buyers receive the maximum benefit.
