The XPENG X9 recorded the largest positive deviation from its WLTP range — 11.4%, covering 401 miles (646 km) — and the fastest charging time among all 24 vehicles in the summer edition of El Prix 2026, the independent electric vehicle test organized by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor magazine. XPENG reports the seven-seater also went from 10% to 80% charge in 12 minutes and 55 seconds, the fastest charging performance of the test. NAF said the X9 “clearly stood out” in this year’s range evaluation. The result follows the Kia EV2’s compact-class win at the same event.
Highlights
- 11.4% above WLTP: The X9 posted the largest positive range deviation of any vehicle tested, according to XPENG.
- 401 miles (646 km) covered: The seven-seater ran for more than 11 hours after the start of the test in real-world conditions.
- 12:55 fast charge: The X9 charged from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes and 55 seconds, the fastest time in the field of 24.
- Repeat result: At the winter edition of El Prix 2026, the model topped the charging field at 14°F (-10°C) with a 12-minute charge, per the company.

How Did the X9 Perform in the Range Test?
The X9 achieved the highest result among all 24 vehicles tested, delivering an 11.4% positive deviation versus its official WLTP range figure. In real-world conditions, the vehicle covered a total of 401 miles (646 km) and continued operating for more than 11 hours after the test began, according to the company.
WLTP figures, determined under the European test cycle, generally run higher than the EPA estimates used in the US market.
Charging Performance
The X9 delivered the fastest charging result of the test, moving from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes and 55 seconds. XPENG noted that Europe’s current 400 kW charging infrastructure has yet to fully unlock the X9’s maximum charging capability, though the vehicle has produced top-tier charging times across different test environments.
The summer result follows the winter edition of El Prix 2026, where the company says the X9 again topped the charging field at 14°F (-10°C) with a 12-minute charge.
“Recording the largest WLTP range deviation and the fastest charging time is strong validation of the technology behind the XPENG X9,” said Alex Tang, General Manager of International Business at XPENG. “Customers should not have to choose between long range and fast charging. The X9 delivers both, helping drivers spend more time on the road and less time waiting at a charger.”
European Launch Plans
The X9 is among the new XPENG models launching in Europe during 2026, with Norway serving as the first market. The seven-seater combines long-range capability and fast charging as part of XPENG’s European expansion, which the company describes as central to its growth ambitions in the region.
Held twice a year, El Prix is widely regarded as the largest independent comparison of electric vehicle range and charging performance, and its results are closely followed by consumers, media, and manufacturers across Europe.
