Volvo Car UK has entered the commercial vehicle market with the EX30 Cargo, a car-derived van based on the fully electric EX30 compact SUV. The new model targets business and fleet customers. It replaces the rear seats with a flat-load floor and offers up to 1,000 litres of cargo space. Pricing starts at £36,010 on the road.
Highlights
- Car-derived electric van created through a second-stage conversion by Volvo Car UK, available in standard and Cross Country variants with added ground clearance

- Multiple powertrain options including the new P3 (150 hp) Extended Range with up to 300 miles of range for MY27, plus P5 (272 hp) and P8 (428 hp) AWD
- Fleet-only availability through Volvo Car UK’s dedicated fleet sales channels, with Core and Plus trim levels

Conversion and Cargo Design
The EX30 Cargo is not a ground-up commercial vehicle. Instead, Volvo Car UK developed it as a second-stage conversion of the existing EX30 SUV platform. The conversion removes the rear seats entirely. In their place, a flat floor and lower-floor access panel maximize usable space.
A purpose-built payload bulkhead separates the driver cabin from the cargo area. Modified rear side panels and doors further increase load volume. The conversion applies to both new orders and existing stock across MY26 and MY27 vehicles.
Additional practical features include extended rear door openings for easier loading. A dedicated cargo work light improves visibility in the load area. Meanwhile, an underfloor subframe adds securing and mounting points for commercial applications.

Powertrain and Range Options
The EX30 Cargo offers a broad powertrain lineup. The P5 (272 hp) Extended Range serves as the core option. For MY27, a new P3 (150 hp) Extended Range variant joins the range. It targets fleet customers who prioritize efficiency over outright power, delivering up to 300 miles of range.
The P8 (428 hp) all-wheel-drive powertrain is also available for operators needing higher performance. A standard-range P5 option rounds out the lineup at the entry price point.
Standard and Plus Trim Levels
The Core trim includes as standard:
- Safe Space Technology and Google Automotive Services
- Adaptive Cruise Control with front and rear Park Assist and rear camera
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
- 3-phase 11 kW onboard charger with heat pump
- 18-inch Aero alloy wheels and automatic LED headlights
The Plus trim adds Pilot Assist, Digital Key Plus, a Harman Kardon sound system, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, two-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a dual-tone roof, and 19-inch Aero alloy wheels.

Fleet-Only Sales Strategy
Jack Munford, Head of Fleet at Volvo Car UK, said: “While we are best known for our passenger vehicles, we recognise that business owners and fleets also want the quality, safety and technology that Volvo is renowned for in a compact commercial vehicle too, which is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo.”
The vehicle is available exclusively through Volvo’s fleet sales channels. Both the standard EX30 Cargo and the Cross Country Cargo variant with additional ground clearance are offered in Core and Plus specifications.
