Volvo Cars has unveiled the EX60, an all-electric mid-size SUV offering up to 400 miles of range and ultra-fast charging capability. The five-seat family vehicle represents Volvo’s entry into the largest global electric vehicle segment, built on the company’s new SPA3 electric architecture and powered by the HuginCore core computing system.
Highlights
- 400-mile maximum range on the P12 AWD variant with 173 miles of charge added in 10 minutes at 400kW stations
- First Volvo in the U.S. with native NACS port, providing direct access to over 25,000 Tesla Superchargers without adapters
- Seven variants across three powertrains with 10-year battery warranty coverage
- First Volvo with Google Gemini AI assistant and Apple Music with Dolby Atmos pre-installed
Range and Charging Specifications
The EX60 achieves its range figures through a combination of cell-to-body battery technology, next-generation in-house electric motors, and aerodynamic optimization resulting in a 0.26 drag coefficient.
Charging performance at 400kW stations allows drivers to add 173 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes. U.S. models will feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port as standard equipment, eliminating the need for adapters when accessing Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Powertrain Options and Pricing Structure
The EX60 launches with three distinct powertrain configurations:
- P12 AWD Electric: Up to 400 miles range, all-wheel drive
- P10 AWD Electric: Up to 320 miles range, all-wheel drive
- P6 Electric: Up to 310 miles range, rear-wheel drive
All variants include a 10-year battery warranty. Volvo states the EX60 achieves the lowest carbon footprint of any fully electric Volvo, matching the smaller EX30.

Technology and Software Integration
The EX60 debuts several technology firsts for Volvo. The vehicle launches with Google Gemini as its AI assistant, enabling natural language interaction without specific voice commands. This integration reflects Volvo’s position as a lead development partner for Android Automotive OS.
The HuginCore system, developed in collaboration with Google, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm Technologies, manages vehicle computing functions. Volvo claims improved infotainment responsiveness with faster screen response times and instant map loading.
The 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system includes headrest speakers in all four main seating positions. Apple Music comes pre-installed with Dolby Atmos spatial audio support.
Safety Architecture
The EX60 incorporates Volvo’s multi-adaptive safety belt technology in front seats, which the company describes as a world-first innovation. The safety structure centers on a boron steel safety cage with integrated restraint systems.
HuginCore enables continuous environmental assessment through the vehicle’s sensor array. Volvo states the vehicle exceeds current regulatory requirements and rating standards.

Production and Availability
Manufacturing begins this spring at Volvo’s Swedish production facility. European orders are now open, with U.S. ordering expected in late spring 2026.
Delivery timeline by variant:
- P6 and P10 variants: Summer 2026
- P12 variant: Shortly after initial deliveries
Range figures are preliminary estimates based on EPA testing cycles. Official EPA ratings will be released at a later date. Actual range varies based on tire configuration, temperature, driving conditions, and vehicle specification.
