World EV Day™ has transformed from a small idea into a global event, reshaping the conversation around electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainable transport. Founded in 2020 by Ade Thomas of Green.TV Media, the event was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, leveraging digital platforms to unite governments, NGOs, and companies. Its mission: to inspire global action toward cleaner transportation.
As Ade Thomas recalls, “Launching World EV Day™ was an ambitious task… but the response was overwhelming.” Early backing from global partners like ABB and Auto Trader helped the campaign grow rapidly, reaching billions and becoming a staple in the EV industry calendar.
The event’s success is attributed to its collaborative nature. Each year, it brings together stakeholders across industries, emphasizing the need for collective effort in advancing e-mobility. The theme for this year, “Let’s drive change, together”, underscores the necessity for cooperation in overcoming barriers to mainstream EV adoption.
Looking ahead, World EV Day™ plans to expand further. One key initiative is “World EV Day™ on Tour,” a global EV rally aimed at engaging mainstream audiences. Additionally, a new community-generated EV Meet-Ups map is set to launch, allowing drivers to connect at charging hubs and other locations.
With its growing influence, World EV Day™ is poised to continue leading the charge for a sustainable and electric future.
