XING Mobility Debuts Immersion-Cooled 800V BBU at CES 2026

XING Mobility unveils the world’s first immersion-cooled 800V BBU at CES 2026, alongside Caterham Project V and XBE1000 ESS, demonstrating decade-validated IMMERSIO™ technology for EV, energy storage, and AI data center applications.

XING Mobility, a pioneer in immersion-cooled battery technology, will showcase a decade of advancements at CES 2026 under the theme “A Decade of Immersion Cooled Innovation.” The company will present its IMMERSIO™ technology applications across electric vehicles (EV), energy storage systems (ESS), and a new high-voltage DC backup battery unit (BBU) for AI data centers. Key debuts include the world’s first immersion-cooled 800V BBU and integration in Caterham’s all-electric Project V concept car.

Highlights

  • World’s first immersion-cooled 800V BBU: BBx800 module supports ±400V or 800V configurations with peak power up to 1 MW for 3 minutes.
  • Caterham Project V partnership: Utilizes IMMERSIO™ Cell-to-Pack (CTP) immersion-cooled battery for lightweight design and high-performance thermal management.
  • XBE1000 ESS cabinet debut: Offers 200 kWh to 1 MWh capacity with 2P discharge capability, delivering up to four times the power of air-cooled systems.
  • Cross-industry validation: Decade-long automotive-qualified testing enables expansion into AI data center infrastructure.

800V Architecture Addresses AI Data Center Power Demands

Rising power density in AI data centers has driven rack requirements from approximately 100 kW to over 1 MW. Traditional 48V architectures face limitations in current handling, thermal management, efficiency, and stability. In 2025, NVIDIA promoted 800V high-voltage direct current (HVDC) as the foundation for next-generation AI facilities.

Implementing 800V systems requires advanced insulation, thermal runaway prevention, fault isolation, electromagnetic compatibility, and rigorous safety certifications. These complexities create significant barriers for conventional manufacturers.

XING Mobility responds with the BBx800, a purpose-built high-voltage DC backup battery module. The IMMERSIO™ full immersion cooling submerges each cell in insulating fluid, maintaining temperatures at 25–27°C. This approach minimizes thermal runaway risks and enhances system reliability.

The compact 2 OU module enables flexible ±400V or 800V setups. A 20 OU rack configuration delivers 1 MW peak power for 3 minutes or 1.2 MW for 90 seconds, meeting transient demands during peak AI computing loads.

Automotive Expertise Enables Data Center Expansion

XING Mobility’s entry into AI data centers builds on extensive automotive validation since 2015. The company has developed 400–800V battery systems subjected to European regulatory certifications, 100,000-kilometer durability testing with Japanese automakers, and extreme-condition evaluations with Kubota.

These real-world tests have refined expertise in high-voltage insulation, electric shock protection, and thermal management. This foundation provides a competitive edge in 800V BBU applications that proves difficult for others to replicate.

IMMERSIO™ Technology Powers Caterham Project V

XING Mobility serves as a key partner in Caterham’s electrification efforts. The British sports car brand’s all-electric Project V employs IMMERSIO™ CTP module-free immersion cooling.

The Cell-to-Pack architecture achieves lightweight construction, high performance, and superior safety within tight packaging constraints. It resolves thermal management and integration challenges typical in vehicle electrification.

The system preserves high-speed driving dynamics and handling while supporting the transition from concept to production. Caterham plans to unveil the Project V production prototype globally at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, highlighting XING Mobility’s immersion-cooled battery integration.

XBE1000 Energy Storage System Enhances Grid Applications

XING Mobility will introduce the IMMERSIO™ XBE1000 energy storage cabinet at CES 2026. The liquid immersion-cooled system supports capacities from 200 kWh to 1 MWh.

It accommodates single-cabinet or multi-cabinet parallel configurations for grid-scale and high-power needs. High-energy-density cells combine with active thermal management to enable 2P discharge rates.

This capability yields up to twice the rated power and overall output up to four times greater than conventional air-cooled systems. The design suits high-load scenarios, space-limited installations, renewable integration, and grid frequency regulation.

Strategic Vision for High-Voltage Power Platforms

Royce YC Hong, Founder and CEO of XING Mobility, emphasized the integrated approach to safety, efficiency, and system architecture as voltage and power density increase. The company positions immersion cooling as a core advantage creating a controlled environment for all battery components.

At CES 2026, XING Mobility will demonstrate a unified high-voltage platform supporting EV, ESS, and AI data center BBU requirements with emphasis on ultra-high safety and efficiency.

The showcase underscores Taiwan’s role in global AI computing and associated power infrastructure. XING Mobility plans continued collaboration with international partners to advance immersion cooling across automotive, data center, and grid sectors.
