XPENG, a leading Chinese smart electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, announced its AI Tech Tree strategy upgrade on April 15, 2025, aiming to redefine future mobility. The company also unveiled its 2025 XPENG X9, a flagship intelligent multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) designed for advanced technology and family comfort. This strategic shift integrates artificial intelligence (AI), energy solutions, and embodied intelligence to create an ecosystem encompassing smart EVs, humanoid robots, and flying vehicles. With global operations in over 30 countries, XPENG continues to lead in premium EV sales and innovation.

AI-Powered Mobility Vision

XPENG positions AI as the core engine of its mobility ecosystem. Its full-stack in-house R&D includes cloud-based and vehicle-based large models, AI chips, and foundational architecture. The company is the first Chinese automaker to mass-produce vehicles with end-to-end large AI models, enhancing its intelligent driving system, which is now being tested in Hong Kong. The Turing AI Chip, with a 40-core processor, supports 30-billion-parameter models and delivers three times the computing power of existing chips. This chip will power XPENG’s vehicles, flying cars, and robotics, with mass production planned for Q2 2025.

2025 XPENG X9: A New Standard

The 2025 XPENG X9 redefines intelligent MPVs with 496 technical upgrades and 35% new components. It features Turing AI Smart Driving as standard, offering seamless parking lot-to-parking lot navigation. Built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, the X9 achieves a 405 km range in 10 minutes of charging, with an efficiency of 16.2 kWh per 100 km, the lowest in its class. The cabin includes zero-gravity seats, a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, and adaptive suspension for comfort. Safety is paramount, with the X9 earning top scores in all major crash tests and featuring 14 advanced safety features, including a bulletproof battery pack.

Global Expansion and Innovation

XPENG’s global footprint spans 30 countries, with leadership in Europe’s premium EV market and China’s emerging EV sector. Its 2,110 ultra-fast charging stations and partnerships with Volkswagen and bp pulse support a network of 2.07 million charging piles across 31 markets. The Kunpeng Super Electric System, set for production in Q4 2025, will offer a 430 km pure electric range and 1,400 km combined range. XPENG’s AEROHT Land Aircraft Carrier, a modular flying car, has over 4,000 pre-orders and is slated for production in 2026. The humanoid robot IRON, powered by the Turing chip, features advanced vision and processing for industrial and retail tasks.
