XPENG’s G9 and P7 Electric Vehicles Outshine Competitors in NAF Range and Charging Tests

The XPENG G9 and P7 top the NAF EV Summer test, achieving the highest ranges and breaking charging records in a promising development for XPENG’s European market expansion.

What’s Happening

XPENG announced that its G9 SUV and P7 sports sedan, designed for the European markets, have triumphed in the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor EV Summer Test, referred to as El-Prix 2023. Notably, the XPENG G9 set a new charging record, achieving an unprecedented peak capacity of 319kW. Both the G9 and P7 claimed the leading positions in the range test, indicating their excellent performance compared to their WLTP range.

Why It Matters

This news is a significant milestone for XPENG, signaling a promising entry into key European markets. The company’s two smart EV models demonstrated superior range and charging abilities in the summer test, outpacing other luxury and top-selling EV brands, including Tesla and BYD. The successful results suggest that XPENG is set to be a strong contender in the European electric vehicle market.

Key Points

In the NAF Summer Test, 32 EVs were evaluated on range and charging speed. The XPENG G9 and P7 emerged at the forefront with impressive ranges of 588 km and 557 km, respectively. The G9 further impressed by breaking the NAF’s charging record, reaching a peak charging power of 319 kW. It also registered the highest average charging power at 212 kW and set a record for the fastest time to reach a range of 200 kilometers, achieving this in just 8.4 minutes. This testifies to XPENG’s smart EV’s superior performance in the existing EV market.

Bottom Line

These achievements demonstrate the efficiency and performance of XPENG’s 800V high-voltage platform and the P7i’s 400V platform. They underscore the automaker’s commitment to the European market, as shown by the launch of G9 and P7 in Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Denmark in February 2023. With the planned opening of Delivery and Service Centers in key European markets in 2023 and the implementation of remote diagnostics and OTA updates, XPENG aims to offer exemplary customer service and care.
