2027 Audi e-tron Lineup Gets Tech Overhaul

Audi's 2027 A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron gain a redesigned MMI interface, improved regenerative braking, a 4K dashcam, and new drive select modes for Q2 2026 delivery.

Audi announced comprehensive hardware and software updates for its 2027 A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron model families. The changes target the infotainment interface, driving dynamics, and driver assistance systems across the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) lineup. Both model families are expected at U.S. dealerships in Q2 2026.

Highlights

  • Redesigned MMI interface brings cleaner graphics, a new 3D vehicle model, and deeper smartphone integration across all three Audi Digital Stage displays.
  • Upgraded one-pedal braking allows vehicles to reach a full stop without engaging friction brakes, recovering additional kinetic energy.
  • New 4K dashcam mounts in the rear-view mirror base, records HDR video, and stores all data locally on a removable SD card.
  • Audi Signature Care scheduled maintenance is now included for the first three years or 30,000 miles on every model.

Redesigned MMI Interface and Digital Cockpit

The three-display Audi Digital Stage features a new user interface aligned with Audi’s updated corporate design language. The center MMI touch display shifts from list-based menus to graphical layouts. Background palettes and contrast adjustments speed recognition and reduce distraction.

The virtual cockpit now offers three toggle views via a steering-wheel-mounted “View” button:

  • Classic instrument view with drive-mode-specific graphics
  • Navigation view with integrated maps
  • Driver assistance view with real-time system data

A fixed time and temperature display remains in the upper right corner regardless of mode. Smartphone navigation, media, and phone functions now mirror directly into the virtual cockpit and MMI touch display.

The available front passenger display adds new standby designs and supports an independent Bluetooth headset. This allows passengers to enjoy audio content privately while the driver listens to a separate source.

Steering Wheel

Updated Steering Wheel and Trim Changes

All 2027 Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron models receive an updated multifunction steering wheel. Inspired by the Audi Concept C, the design restores the physical scroll wheel. It replaces the previous touch-sensitive controls for volume and MMI menu selection.

Key trim-level changes for the A6 Sportback e-tron include:

  • Premium Plus: Audi dashcam added as standard; new Technology package available with augmented reality head-up display and passenger display
  • Prestige: Adds drive select assistant, Park assist pro with remote functionality, rear emergency brake assist, Digital OLED taillights, top view camera with 3D view, and the air quality package

An optional S line black optic package on Premium Plus and Prestige trims introduces 20-inch wheels, Anthracite Audi rings, black exterior trim, and a black front grille.

Q6 e-tron and Q6 Sportback e-tron Updates

The Q6 e-tron and Q6 Sportback e-tron Premium Plus trims gain the Audi dashcam as standard. A new Technology package on the Premium Plus trim bundles the augmented reality head-up display and passenger display.

Prestige trims add the drive select assistant, Park assist pro with remote functionality, rear emergency brake assist, Digital OLED taillights, a top view camera with 3D view, and the air quality package.

An optional trailer hitch with a 4,400-lb. towing capacity remains available on all Q6/SQ6 e-tron models. The 2027 SQ6 e-tron and SQ6 Sportback e-tron trims now begin at Premium Plus.

New Dynamic Plus Mode for S6 Sportback

The 2027 S6 Sportback e-tron gains a new “dynamic plus” drive select mode. This setting enables controlled oversteer through precise management of the electric quattro all-wheel drive, brake torque vectoring, and electronic stabilization control (ESC).

Dynamic plus delivers a more direct accelerator pedal response and a dedicated sports display in the virtual cockpit. The system allows targeted oversteer and controlled drifts on closed courses while maintaining electronic stability oversight.

The Audi drive select assistant is available on Prestige trims across the S6, A6, Q6, SQ6, and Q6 Sportback. This system automatically adjusts drive modes based on driving conditions and individual driving style.

Improved Regenerative Braking

Audi upgraded the one-pedal-braking B mode across the PPE lineup. Vehicles can now decelerate to a full stop without transitioning to friction brakes. The system recovers additional kinetic energy for regeneration, which can improve efficiency and range.

The stopping behavior mimics an experienced driver easing off brake pressure before a complete stop. This delivers a smoother deceleration feel.

4K Dashcam System

A new high-resolution dashcam integrates into the interior rear-view mirror base. The system records 4K video with HDR technology and a light-sensitive sensor for reliable capture in challenging conditions.

Key dashcam features include:

  • Event recording: Saves 30 seconds before and after an incident, triggered automatically or manually
  • Action triggers: Automatic recording on hazard light activation or emergency braking
  • Local storage: All data saved to an owner-supplied SD card with no external data transfer
  • Metadata logging: Records navigation data, speed, and time alongside video

Recordings are viewable on the central MMI display.

Driver Assist

Expanded Parking and Driver Assistance

Park assist pro gains several new capabilities for 2027. Reverse assist now handles steering for the last 150 feet when backing into a spot. The trained parking feature stores up to five parking maneuvers, each over 600 feet long, and performs them autonomously on private property.

A new garage parking via smartphone feature works without driving past the parking space first. It requires park assist pro with remote functionality, which is standard on all Prestige trims.

AI-Powered Voice Assistant Updates

The Audi assistant now uses artificial intelligence to access the owner’s manual and answer vehicle-specific questions. Drivers can control adaptive cruise assist and distance control via voice commands.

The system recognizes behavioral patterns and adopts them as automatic routines. Examples include activating cruise assist on highways and raising the suspension on air-equipped models at specific locations.

Experience Worlds and Power Nap Mode

New “experience worlds” use interior lighting, sound, massage, and climate control to create mood scenarios. Activating, Relaxing, and Harmonizing settings are available at launch. Each scenario runs 10 to 20 minutes and adapts dynamically to vehicle movement.

Power Nap mode creates a calm atmosphere during charging stops. In-car gaming adds Bluetooth controller support and wireless headphone connectivity for passenger entertainment.
