ABB E-mobility is set to deploy multiple Terra High-Power (HP) chargers at Ragn-Sells facilities in Sweden, significantly advancing the electrification of heavy-duty transport. This initiative is supported by the Swedish Energy Agency’s regional electrification pilot program, which is investing up to 350 million SEK in charging infrastructure projects. The deployment will not only serve Ragn-Sells’ growing electric fleet but also provide charging services to other heavy-duty trucking fleets.
Key Highlights:
- Ragn-Sells will install 18 ABB Terra High-Power chargers to meet the needs of their heavy transport sites.
- Capable of charging over 120 vehicles daily, the chargers will support both Ragn-Sells’ fleet and other heavy-duty trucks.
- The Swedish Energy Agency’s program has allocated 45 million SEK to this project, emphasizing the importance of expanding heavy transport charging infrastructure.
- Ten chargers are already operational at sites in Marieholm, Gothenburg, and Skepplanda, Ale, with eight more set to go live at Högbytorp.
- ABB E-mobility’s expertise in charging infrastructure played a crucial role in Ragn-Sells’ decision to partner with them.
“We chose ABB E-mobility because of their expertise in building and supporting charging infrastructure and that knowledge is critical for establishing long-term, sustainable return on investment for these sites. That experience is something we valued and relied on during this project and at every step along our electrification journey in what is a fast-moving period,” said Erik Wastesson, Project Manager at Ragn-Sells Treatment & Detox AB.
This project represents a significant step forward in Sweden’s push for sustainable heavy transport solutions. ABB E-mobility’s involvement ensures that electric kilometers driven by heavy-duty vehicles will be efficient, reliable, and cost-effective. Oliver Johnson, Northern Cluster Sales Lead at ABB E-mobility, emphasized, “Our industry is poised for exponential growth as innovators like Ragn-Sells harness the ‘regional electrification pilot’ to install charging infrastructure that delivers real ROI for heavy transport operators today and into the future.”
