AC Cars’ new Ace Classic electric model is a modern take on the iconic AC Ace, which originally evolved into the famous AC Cobra. Developed at AC Cars’ UK facility and completed in the US, the vehicle pairs traditional craftsmanship with advanced electrification technologies. The collaboration with TREMEC Electric GT has enabled the integration of the eGT413 Modular EV platform, boasting 300 horsepower, a 72 kWh battery, and DC fast charging capability. The car’s lightweight build ensures an impressive driving experience, complemented by a range of over 200 miles per charge.
The bodywork features carbon-fiber materials combined with hand-finished interiors, staying true to the brand’s classic aesthetic while enhancing performance. TREMEC’s expertise in performance technologies made them a fitting partner for this electrified revival of the AC Ace. Antonio Herrera, Managing Director of TREMEC, emphasized their commitment to electrifying legendary designs, noting, “To be working with such a historically significant marque as AC Cars, and to be delivering Electrifying Performance to such an iconic design, really demonstrates our approach to revolutionising automotive powertrains.”
Two versions of the AC Ace Classic electric will be available: one with an open grille reminiscent of the pre-Cobra Ace, and the Bristol Classic version that features the iconic “smiling face” grille from 1953. Both versions will include signature graceful wheel arches and rolling flanks, paying homage to the timeless styling of the original models.
The new AC Ace is set to become an essential chapter in the storied history of AC Cars, which dates back to 1901. Known for producing lightweight and versatile sports cars, AC Cars has continued to innovate, blending classic elements with modern electrification. Reservations for the new electric AC Ace are now open, starting at $275,000, with both left and right-hand drive configurations available for US and UK markets.
