Kia has added a seven-seat variant and a new “Elite” grade to its all-electric PV5 Passenger lineup in the UK, with the seven-seater starting at £36,995 (about $49,700) on the road. The expanded range arrives alongside model-year 2027 (MY27) updates that, the company reports, improve comfort and everyday usability across all variants. The additions broaden Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle lineup, the purpose-built electric range the brand introduced in 2024. Order books open in early June, with production beginning in mid-July and first customer deliveries from October.
Highlights
- The PV5 Passenger 7-seat uses a 2-2-3 layout with 318 liters of cargo space behind the third row, expanding to 785 liters with that row folded.
- The seven-seater pairs exclusively with the 71.2 kWh Long Range battery, rated at more than 390 km (about 242 miles) WLTP, with 10–80% DC fast charging in under 30 minutes at up to 150 kW.
- A new “Elite” grade joins “Essential” and “Plus” across both five- and seven-seat variants, adding electric sliding doors, ventilated front seats, and a surround-view monitor.
- UK pricing starts at £33,195 (about $44,600) for the five-seat “Essential”; the seven-seat range opens at £36,995 (about $49,700).

A Seven-Seat People Mover on the E-GMP.S Platform
The PV5 Passenger 7-seat targets family and group travel as well as ride-hailing, taxi work, airport transfers, and commercial shuttle duty. It expands a PV5 Passenger range that launched in the UK with five seats, adding a third row in a 2-2-3 configuration.
A step-in height of 399 mm and sliding doors ease access to the second and third rows. Behind the third row, cargo volume measures 318 liters, rising to 785 liters with that row folded. Built on Kia’s flat-floor E-GMP.S platform, the seven-seater offers up to 1,041 mm of legroom, 1,076 mm of headroom, and 1,732 mm of shoulder room, and supports integration with fleet management systems.
Range and Charging
The five-seat PV5 Passenger remains available with both the Standard Range 51.5 kWh and Long Range 71.2 kWh batteries, while the seven-seat variant is offered only with the 71.2 kWh Long Range pack in the UK.
Kia reports more than 390 km (about 242 miles) of range on the WLTP cycle for the seven-seater, pending homologation. WLTP figures typically run higher than the EPA estimates U.S. readers may be more familiar with, so the two are not directly comparable. DC fast charging of up to 150 kW recharges the battery from 10–80% in under 30 minutes. A front-mounted charging port lets the vehicle charge without blocking access to the cargo area.
The PV5 Passenger also carries Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability on “Plus” and “Elite” grades, allowing it to power external devices through an internal or external socket. Through Kia Charge, customers can access more than 74,000 charge points across the UK and over one million across 27 European countries.

MY27 Updates Across the Range
The seven-seat variant launches with the broader MY27 update package. For the Passenger, the changes center on the driver, including a height-adjustable armrest aimed at urban and professional use. Other additions across the lineup include Walk Away Lock and a flat antenna that helps keep vehicle height below 1.9 meters for access to height-restricted environments such as car parks.
Inside, the cabin centers on a 12.9-inch infotainment display and a 7.5-inch digital instrument cluster, with third-party apps available through Kia’s in-vehicle infotainment and the Pleos app market. The software-led architecture supports over-the-air updates. Kia cites a 5.5-meter (about 18-foot) turning radius for maneuverability in urban settings.
A Three-Grade Lineup With “Elite” Added
The PV5 Passenger launched with two grades, “Essential” and “Plus.” A high-spec “Elite” grade now joins them across both the five- and seven-seat variants.
Standard “Essential” equipment includes 12.9-inch touchscreen navigation, a 7.5-inch driver display, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5. MY27 additions to the entry grade include a compact antenna, a multi-position driver armrest, and Walk Away Lock, with 16-inch alloy wheels and a heat pump standard on the seven-seat.
The mid-tier “Plus” grade adds items such as electric folding mirrors, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance, Safe Exit Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance, heated front and outer-rear seats and steering wheel, a wireless charger, a power tailgate, and power seats.
The new “Elite” grade adds the following over “Plus”:
- Electric sliding doors with power door latch
- Ventilated front seats
- Surround-view monitor and blind-spot view monitor
- Park Distance Warning with side sensors
- 2-tone full PU upholstery
- Premium paint
UK Pricing
Pricing for the five-seat PV5 Passenger starts at £33,195 (about $44,600) on the road for the “Essential” with the Standard Range 51.5 kWh battery. All five-seat grades qualify for the Band 2 Government Electric Car Grant (ECG), which takes £1,500 (about $2,020) off the on-the-road price. Kia says it will confirm any ECG that applies to the seven-seat in due course.

Where the PV5 Sits in Kia’s PBV Plan
The PV5 range spans Cargo, Passenger, Chassis, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), and Crew conversions. The lineup was named International Van of the Year 2026, and the Passenger took “Family Car of the Year” at the TopGear.com Awards 2026. The PV5 Cargo also holds a Guinness World Record for the longest distance by a maximum-payload electric van on a single charge, covering 430.84 miles (693.38 km). Kia plans to follow the PV5 with the larger PV7 in 2027 and the PV9 in 2029.
