Agrii Deploys Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 for UK Operations

Agrii becomes one of the UK's first operators to deploy the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, completing 460 km nightly routes on a single charge while eliminating 59 tonnes of annual CO₂ emissions.

UK agricultural distributor Agrii has integrated the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 into its fleet, becoming one of the first operators in the country to deploy the long-range electric heavy goods vehicle. The vehicle was supplied by Midlands Truck & Van following comprehensive testing under full-load conditions on Agrii’s operational routes.

Highlights

  • The eActros 600’s 500 km+ range enables completion of Agrii’s 460 km nightly delivery circuit on a single charge
  • Projected annual CO₂ reduction of 59 tonnes based on 60,000 km yearly mileage
  • Zero-emission powertrain reduces noise pollution during night-time deliveries to rural areas
  • Vehicle selected after extensive full-load trials across Agrii’s regular distribution network

Technical Performance and Route Capabilities

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 LS ProCabin Stream 4×2 configuration was selected after rigorous evaluation demonstrated its ability to complete Agrii’s demanding 460 km round trip between its central distribution centre and depot network. The vehicle’s class-leading 500 km+ operational range proved sufficient to complete the route with reserve capacity remaining.

Richard Pinnock, Agrii’s National Distribution Manager, stated: “It’s almost unnatural to think a truck that size can be electric and achieve such a distance on one charge. Sustainability is an important issue for the agricultural sector, and adopting our first electric HGV is a crucial step in reducing our environmental impact.”

Emissions Reduction and Environmental Impact

Operating data indicates the eActros 600 will eliminate approximately 59 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, calculated on Agrii’s typical 60,000 km annual mileage profile. This reduction represents a significant step in the company’s environmental strategy within the agricultural distribution sector.

Operational Advantages for Rural Logistics

The electric powertrain delivers operational benefits beyond emissions reduction. The vehicle’s quiet operation proves particularly advantageous during night-time delivery operations in rural areas, minimizing acoustic disturbance to surrounding communities while maintaining Agrii’s distribution schedule.

Fleet Integration and Partnership

The deployment represents an extension of Agrii’s decade-long partnership with Midlands Truck & Van and Truck Sales Executive Amit Verma, who have supported the company’s Mercedes-Benz fleet development throughout this period.

Amit Verma, Truck Sales Executive at Midlands Truck & Van, commented: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Agrii on this transition. From early prototype testing to detailed route analysis, this project has been a real partnership. Delivering the first eActros 600 to Agrii is a proud moment for everyone involved.”

Vehicle Branding and Specifications

Professional vinyl wrapping was executed by Finch Signs using Metamark Metaglide material, applied via Roland VG3-540 printing technology to ensure colour accuracy and durability across the vehicle’s complex surface contours.

Industry Perspective on Electric HGV Adoption

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK, stated: “Agrii’s adoption of the eActros 600 shows that electric long-haul transport is ready for real-world operations. With its 500 km+ range and proven capability, the eActros 600 enables forward-thinking operators like Agrii to meet sustainability targets without compromising on productivity.”
